26 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2020 | For all the new residents of Sun Lakes, the Art League is a group of people who love all forms of art, and also those who love to create beautiful art pieces… watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastel paintings, sculptures, jewelry, glass works, quilting, wood sculpting, artistic photography, etc. We meet once a month on the second Sunday at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. In addition to the brief meeting, there is a Mini Art Show, refreshments, and a painting demonstration by a professional artist. Also there are usually classes available each month in the Main Clubhouse Arts & Crafts Room. The next scheduled classes are set for June 8, 15, and 22 from 9 am until noon, and will be taught by Suni Godbold. She will be teaching the art of spoon painting with acrylic paints. The annual Art League Art Show will be on Aug. 28 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom, and all members are encouraged to display their art. This is a juried art show and there will be more details coming soon. The annual membership dues for the Art League are $20, and you may join by calling Helen Searcy at (951) 845-8198 or sending her a check to 5152 Rio Bravo Drive. Our annual Potluck Dinner that was previously scheduled for May 6, has now been postponed until further notice. The May general meeting was changed to May 31 due to Mother's Day and will be at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. Suni Godbold will do a special demonstration in acrylic "spoon" painting, and there will be Mini Art Show. . Hopefully we are able to be together again in May. Just follow the notifications from the administration. Be safe and enjoy this extra "stay at home" time to create wonderful things for the August Art Show.
