30 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2020 | Chorale The Chorale of Sun Lakes has been keeping its members in touch with each other by email and video conferencing. Throughout its more than 25 years in existence, the Chorale has always been like a family to its members. Participants count on four months of weekly rehearsals to maintain connections with long-time friends. The emergency stay-at-home situation has put a big dent in that important social commitment. Since music is healthy and life-affirming, musical interludes and amusing video links are being sent out by email and posted on Facebook to keep up everyone's spirits. We plan to convene again in late summer/early fall to begin rehearsals for our annual Holiday Concert in December. If you love to sing, please join the Sun Lakes Chorale for fellowship and music like no other! For more information, contact Chorale Director Mark Faber at (951) 797-0120, or dmfaber@me.com, or Secretary Linda Vieira at (909) 797-0315, or lvieira@eltree.com. As we all grapple with the reality of life in America under the weight of the coronavirus pandemic we need to try to assure ourselves that we will get through this as best we can. It's difficult to be in a positive state of mind when there is so much scary, shocking and depressing news reported daily on all media platforms. There are ways we can try to deal with all this while we are in a lockdown mode during this crisis. We need to find activities that do not require a gathering of people and can take our focus off the ongoing fear for the health of friends and loved ones who may get or be infected with this virus. Many folks have occupied a lot of time reading books and playing board games, as well as exploring interactive games and streaming events on their cell phones, tablets and PCs. We are also binge watching movies and TV shows. Now, as far as keeping your voice in tip-top shape while we look forward to participating and gathering again for Karaoke sometime hopefully in the near future, you can go to YouTube and try to perfect singing your favorite songs until you can again sing in front of a live audience once this epidemic has subsided and things finally normalize. Try and stay in contact with friends and neighbors by way of cell phones and Skype, as well as texting and snail mail. I'm sure you already know that there was no Sun Lakes Karaoke for April and the same is true for May. Let's keep the faith strong and keep songs with uplifting themes in our hearts such as Amazing Grace by Judy Collins, The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades by Timbuk 3, and finally Happy Days Are Here Again by Annette Hanshaw. On behalf of Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls, and myself, D.J. Blast, we will continue to keep all of you and your families in our prayers. We will let you know when we can sing for each other again. Until then, we will keep a warm disinfected microphone for you. Karaoke Group Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Handyman Services Call Today!
