32 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2020 | I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful flowers blooming here in Sun Lakes. What a great month to enjoy all the beauty around us. Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., May 21 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. If you are not sure this group is for you, stop in and have a cup of coffee and meet people who are experiencing the same things that you are. I can not stress enough the importance of these meetings. If you are caring for someone, you need to take time to care for YOU. We are here for you. We are a caregiver support group for all caregivers. You do not have to be caring for someone with memory loss. We are here for everyone! If you are concerned about leaving your loved one at home while you attend the meeting, we have a wonderful program for your loved one in the Arts & Crafts Room. We have live music each month. Drop your loved ones off at the Arts & Crafts Room on your way to the meeting so they can partake in the music and fun. We are a group of loving caregivers. We enjoy caring for your loved one so you can go to the meeting and not worry about them. If you have any questions, would like to learn more about memory loss, or would like reading materials that we can loan you, call Diane, (951) 769-0130, Doug, (360) 840-5559 or Anne, (951) 845-8700. Remember we are here to help. Each month I will list one of the 10 warning signs for Alzheimer's and other dementias created by the Alzheimer's Association. Individuals may experience one or more of these in different degrees. WARNING SIGN #1 MEMORY LOSS THAT DISRUPTS DAILY LIFE One of the most common signs of Alzheimer's, especially in the early stages, is forgetting recently learned information. Others include forgetting important dates or events, asking for the same information over and over, and increasingly needing to rely on memory aids (reminder notes or electronic devices) or family members for things they used to handle on their own. Caregiver Support Group Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
