50 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2020 | Lady Executive Golf Welcome to Lady Executive Golfers (LEGS)! We are a 9-hole club on the Executive Course. We play weekly on Tuesday mornings with mixed play, fun scrambles and a monthly tournament. In addition, we participate with other clubs for 18-hole tournaments and "away games" a few times during the year. Beginning Oct. 1, we meet at 8:30 am with a tee time at 9 am. The third Tuesday of each month is our monthly meeting and lunch ($10) at the South Clubhouse. Guests welcome! For lunch information, call Doreen Bryant, (909) 595-1974. You can read more about LEGS or check out our monthly newsletter at www.sunlakescc.com under "Golf." If you have questions and/or would like to join our club, please call Judy Jones, (858) 752-1383. We emphasize fun and socializing while striving to improve our game and become more familiar with the Rules of Golf. Join us! Lady Niners Since the golf courses and their facilities have been closed to us all, I think it must be time to set up putting sessions that you can do at home. We might as well get that putting stroke perfected. Just turn your drinking glasses on their sides and put them at least 10 feet apart depending on how much rug you have throughout your house. Give it a try! Set up a competition with a partner. Let's get creative and have some fun. For our Lady Niners, what was your score for nine holes of putting? As we wait for the quarantine to lift, stay healthy and safe. Women's Golf As I sat down to create this article my emotions and state of mind are finding it difficult to grasp what has happened and what is still to come for all of us. Golfers obviously miss hitting the links with their friends and enjoying our golf course. The landscape is starting to bloom, the grass is filling in the bare spots that we saw during the winter. But, right now – right here and throughout our country, golf (and every other sport) MUST take a back seat to COVID-19. Our future depends upon it. Instead, we all have been asked to do our part to help decrease the spread of this horrible killer. Let's put aside our WANTS… what we want to do, where we want to go and what we want to see, and stay home. History not only tells us but has proven that we'll slowly return to our "normal." I want to be able to golf with friends, dine with friends, and make new friends – and we'll be able to that later this year. We all can help life be better tomorrow – and when tomorrow arrives, we'll have cleaner air, greener fairways, hopefully lost our hook or slice and we'll have a new appreciation of our friendships! My message is this – golf is only a game and we can enjoy it when all of this has passed… life is here and now. Please don't take it for granted. Stay strong both mentally and physically! Here's one of my favorite quotes by Maya Angelou: "No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow." ~ Marcy Tierney, President, Sun Lakes Women's Golf Club Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time.
