Ballroom Dance Club Heart & Soul Line Dance A recent dance outing at Hemet West brought 12 of our Ballroom Dance Club members to try their steps and routines. With plenty of music provided by a live band, there was no lack of opportunity to dance. And we always learn something by going out – such as how to dance with other partners and how to get around on a crowded dance floor. Whatever the case may be, we always have fun. From time to time we feature someone in our club, and this month it's Toni Finer. While she is relatively new to our community, she certainly isn't new to dance. From dancing in the film West Side Story, to being on TV shows such as The Hollywood Palace, (with Donald O'Conner, Bing Crosby and Liberace), and The Andy Williams Show, Red Skelton Show, and various Las Vegas venues, she's had an active dance career. Toni then worked in the corporate world and retired from Kaiser Permanente just this past June. She and her husband Bob moved to Four Seasons not only because it's a nice place to live, but because she can participate in her favorite activity: dancing. She was very glad that we have an active dance club with professional instructors. Happily returning to dancing, Toni says: "Monday night's ballroom dancing is my favorite time of the week. Teachers Cyndi and Rhonda are awesome, and it feels so good to be back where I belong. Mitzi Gaynor once told me, "Toni, once a dancer, always a dancer." We hope you'll come and dance with us. Share the benefits of an excellent form of exercise, the friendship of a wonderful group of people, and the enjoyment of moving your feet to the beat. Welcome back Rhonda Parker, Pete and Eileen Antoine. Dance is physical exercise. Exercise increases endurance. Endurance is the ability of muscles to work hard for increasingly longer periods of time without fatigue. Regular dancing is great for improving endurance, especially vigorous dancing such as line and ballroom dancing. Elevating the heart rate can increase stamina. Just as in any form of exercise, regular dancing will build endurance. Dancing is a great way for people of all ages to get and stay in shape. Dance schedule: Wednesdays, 4 to 5:20 pm, beginners; 5:20 to 6 pm, intermediate. See you on the dance floor! ~ Priscilla Robles Old School Dance All Seasons RV Club Ron Morgan stepped down from his responsibility as chairperson for over five years. We all thank him for his hard work and dedication. A special thank you to his better half Nancy who kept Ron at task and also wrote all of the articles for the newspaper. George Johnson is our new chairperson, and Rick Brower will be back-up. George and Rick will be an amazing duo. I will be writing the articles and Ann Williams will be back up. We had about 14 or 15 rigs at Santee and I am so happy that not many missed this wonderful trip. Our wagon masters Ann and Rich Williams and Jill and Rich Yanes outdid themselves. We were provided with a taco dinner, and great breakfasts for the five days of camping. The fishing derby was lots of fun with awards given to all who entered, including the fish that got away, the one which caught a shoe, the longest survivors of the derby, and the fisherwoman who caught her first fish. We all had so much fun, thank you again. Our upcoming events will be Paso Robles/Healdsburg May 14 - 24. Steve and Dorothy Meier are heading up the Paso Robles portion. There will be lots of shopping in Paso Robles and lots of wine drinking! Ron and Nancy Morgan are heading up the second part of the trip to Healdsburg that will include more wine tasting and tours of wineries. Some of our members will be heading to the Elks rodeo May 29 to June 2, with Rick and Jamie as Wagon Masters. In July, a trip to Big Bear/Holloways and Tim and Jane Jacobson will be Wagon Masters. As you can tell by reading about our events, we are a fun club. For anyone in our community who has a rig, PLEASE give us a try. You can attend one event or all of them. Our objective is just to have fun, enjoy each other's company, have campfires, lots of eating, and I really mean lots of eating. "Newbie's" Gary and Linda joined us in Quartzsite, and even came back to the following meeting! Our meetings are "short and sweet," and are on the second Tuesday of every month in the arts and crafts room at the Lodge at 6 pm. Members Jane Jacobson had surgery and Dorothy Meier broke her wrist. Both are advancing to a speedy recovery. ~ Maddie Meyer Beautiful Paso Robles Show your dance style in the Ballroom the first Friday of each month, from 6 to 8 pm, to dance to 50s Rock and Roll, 60s R & B and beyond, including some Jazz and down home Blues.… plus a little line dancing for variety! It's not a contest and you don't need a partner to have fun. Join us on the dance floor and celebrate good times with a relaxing beverage or snack… or buy something from Smitty's and bring it in. Join your fellow residents, new and old alike, who like old school music and enjoy learning new dances. We are also looking forward to a theme night in the near future.
