The 8-Ball Club This month's tournament action applauds the talent of Kenny Payne, who for the first time in 8-Ball Club history won both the 8-Ball and the 9-Ball in-house tournaments in the same week. During the 8-Ball tournament, Ray Windhorn made a beautiful cross corner bank shot to make it into the finals but was bested by Kenny in the end. The 9-Ball tournament brought excitement as Rick Loney sank the 9-Ball on the break to oust Thanh Harrah in semifinal action, but Rick was beaten by Kenny in the finals. We always have a great time playing amongst our friends and neighbors and this month was no exception to that. All players are welcome in our club and all skill levels are present within our group. All you need to do is show up on our practice nights, Wednesday, Friday or non-tournament Mondays at 7 pm, introduce yourself and play or ask for help — simple as that. If you wish to become a member of our club an officer of the club will be there to take your information. We hold our team meetings on the first Wednesday of the month, have our in-house 8-Ball tournament on the second Wednesday both at 7 pm. Then our in-house 9-Ball tournament is on the third Saturday of the month at 1 pm. Our "traveling tournaments" are nights when we either go to other nearby communities or host those communities here for team tournaments usually on Monday. Check the message board in the Billiards Room for dates and locations. ~ Thanh Harrah Note: For the April submission, one of the picture captions listed Ray WindHAM by mistake. Ray's name is WINDHORN. We apologize for the error. OC (Hector O'Campo) lines up his shot as Dennis Cleveland (left) and Kenny Payne look on. Horseshoes for Fun Calling all horseshoe players. We have started a Horseshoes for Fun Club, which will be meeting at the horseshoe pits every Wednesday at 3:30 pm. We will be playing until approximately 4:30 pm. No need to bring horseshoes. We have two sets at The Lodge and one set purchased by a private party. This is a great way to make new friends and get a little exercise in the fresh air. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Ron Erickson at (951) 846-3288, rejlerickson@ sbcglobal.net or Gary Christie at (951) 9419100, goldtoy@ earthlink.net. ~ Ron Erickson (L-R) Ron Erickson, Gary Christie, Victor Mayoral, and Richard Burns Bocce Interest Group Lots of people love Bocce Ball. If you happen to be one of them, we have just the new interest group for you! A meeting (to be determined) is being arranged for sometime in May and we want to include you. Please call Janet Burns at (951) 922-3013 for more information. Firearm Enthusiasts Firearm ownership is a very responsible process of training, safety and familiarity with your firearms. More and more of our members are learning the importance of practice. Take the opportunity to practice at least once a month to maintain your skill level and familiarity with your firearms. Remember to save your targets if you want an evaluation. If you need a shooting partner, check on the roster and make a call. This is a good way to meet your fellow enthusiasts. Meetings are the first Friday of the month at 4 pm in Lodge Ballroom. Contacts: Ron Morgan (951) 315-0466, e-mail: ronm627@ aol.com, or Steve Meier (909) 528-3342, e-mail: sm45para@ gmail.com.
