alzheimer's & dementia helpers It seems as if we are always saying good bye. Our condolences go to Margaret Zufall who lost her husband Ray in March, and to Diane Stone who lost her husband Steve, also in March. Our next meeting is Thurs., May 16, at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room; lunch following in our Sun Lakes Restaurant. Patients are welcome at this meeting. Drop off patients at the Arts & Crafts Room for games and entertainment with our very capable volunteers. This month, Susan Brown returns. As of this writing, we don't have confirmation for our May guest speaker. Our caregiver support group with Kay Perryman is Tues., May 14, at 1 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. This group is open to all caregivers, not just caregivers to an Alzheimer's patient. Refreshments are served at this meeting. Come enjoy and discuss care giving issues and whatever is on your mind. Meet other men and women going through the same things as you. This support group is open to all caregivers - no patients. Alzheimer's has no cure. genealogical society We meet the 4th Wednesday of the month in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. At the meetings, you learn to research your family tree on the Internet, in libraries, at the National Archives, and at family history centers. A family tree is a gift to family members that just keeps on giving! Learn to use your computer for photo editing of family pictures, and the Internet to easily document your family tree. Learn about the available computer applications used to create family trees. Our knowledgeable guest speakers give you tips and tricks for research, and well as, providing the numerous web sites where you can do your searching. Annual membership is only $15 per family. yiddish culture club Well, we made it! We're on the road again on Wed., May 8. So there won't be a meeting that night. However… "We're gonna get goin' and where are we goin' and what're we gonna do? We're on our way to somewhere, the 56 of us and you!" We're off to see (not the Wizard) but some things that look as if they were made by wizards. Yes, we're going to see the Endeavour on a self-guided tour. We'll also see an IMAX presentation on the Hubbel Telescope in 3D. And while we're at the Science Museum, we can see anything else that strikes our fancy. (For someone who lived, breathed and had the rent paid by the space program for 20 years, this will be an interesting trip back to the early days of Sputnik, the Redstone missile and the excitement of putting man on the moon). We'll also have entry to all the exhibits at the California Science Center, plus snacks for the return trip home. Visit www. californiasciencecenter.org to see all that is available at the museum. Please check in at the bus room no later than 8:15 am. We will leave Sun Lakes at 8:30 am and return by 4:30 pm. Lunch is on your own. They have a food court with Taco Bell, McDonald's and their Rose Garden Café featuring a variety of foods. Wheel chairs may be rented at the Science Center for $3 for the day. We have a full 57 passenger bus, complete with a bathroom, so those of you with paid reservations please don't forget about our check-in time of 8:15 am in the bus room with an 8:30 am leaving time. More about this in the June issue. parkinson's support We meet January through October, typically on the 2nd Wed. of the month, 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Bus room. There are discussions on the latest findings and research, medications, nutrition, exercise, and coping skills brought to us by various speakers. We meet together every week for fellowship and study. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen, or participate in our discussion of the evening's topic. We're all learning together.
