By Karla Guerrero Oh, what a year 2020 has been! I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy while we ride this crazy wave. This year has been challenging on a personal level and a professional level. My focus, when joining the Solera Diamond Valley team, was to learn as much of the community as quickly as possible so that I can dive in and be ready to assist with managing "the island." The pandemic helped push things along, for sure. Relocating my office to my home was a challenge, but I have remained committed in making my job responsibilities a priority. Unfortunately, I have not been able to complete certain projects as fast I as I would like as the pandemic affected our vendors as well. They became busier, and also had to adjust and relocate their workstations. That, in turn, affected the projects that were being worked on as we depend on our vendors to move forward. I would like to thank the homeowners who have kindly reported areas of concerns within the common areas prompting us to send work orders. We have adjusted the cleaning schedule with janitorial and ensured that the common area trash cans and outside restrooms are being addressed, and we have had unexpected landscape issues. We have also worked with the city of Hemet to make sure they completed the installation of the street sweeping signs. You will find them installed at the main entrance of the community. There are many projects that we are working on in hopes of having them completed before the opening of the Lodge. Proposals need to be reviewed and approved during Board meetings, and then scheduled with our vendors. This takes time. Management has all been able to work as a team and communicate daily. I truly appreciate the patience you have showed and want to make sure you all know that it is business as usual on our end. The following is a list of current projects: The Lodge Restroom Faucets - A new proposal was approved at the April 16 meeting and sent to the vendor. These faucets had to be special ordered by the vendor and are due to arrive on May 16. Installation to follow. Kitchen - Garbage Disposal - A new proposal for this work was approved on April 16 and sent to the vendor for scheduling. An electrician will install a new 120-volt outlet before, then the disposal will be installed. Garbage disposal installation is now scheduled for May 20. Parking Lot Asphalt Project - At the April 16 meeting, the Board approved AMS Paving, however, some trees currently in the parking lot need to be removed as they are causing damage to the asphalt. Environmental Concepts (EC) will be providing a proposal for the removal of those trees and for installation of less invasive trees. Management is waiting for EC before moving forward with scheduling the asphalt repairs. Patio Furniture - The re-slinging of the back-patio area furniture was approved at the April 16 meeting. The vendor has been notified and is working on scheduling the project. PAINTING PROJECTS Trellises, Monuments, Benches - Management previously obtained proposals to paint the entrance trellises and monuments. The Board directed Management to get revised bids that would include an additional monument and trellis as well as the staining and painting of the wooden benches at the entrance of the Clubhouse. Unfortunately, the bids were not received in time for the April 16 meeting. Management has now obtained all revised bids and they will be reviewed at the May Board meeting, date TBD.
