| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2020 | 27 Art Lovers The Art Lovers Club members have been patiently (or maybe not so patiently) waiting until we can meet together in person. We miss seeing each other. In the meantime, we must rely on virtual meetings and talks. Jayne Spencer, water colorist, who was scheduled for our April meeting will talk to us at a Zoom session on the health benefits of being creative on Tues., Aug. 18, at 1 pm. The Zoom invitation will be sent to members a few weeks prior to her presentation. In the fall we hope that she can demonstrate her expertise in watercolor painting in person. As of this writing, none of our nearby galleries or museums are open yet. However, many do offer online experiences. Contact Oceanside Museum of Art at www.oma- online.org to view their many offerings. The Lux Art Institute is closed but you can drive by the Education Pavilion at 1550 E El Camino Real, Encinitas and look through the window to see Michelle Montjoy's knitted fabric installations. Check out luxartinstitute.org/ artists/ for further information. The William D. Cannon Gallery at the Dove Library in Carlsbad will reopen in July and we hope to visit the exhibit "Edges Frayed," embroidered art works by Bhavna Mehta, Michelle Montjoy, and Irma Poeter. Event details including the date, time and other information will follow soon. Please call Paula Doss at (760) 414-3437 or visit our website at www.http://ohartlovers.wixsite.com/art- lovers for more information. Art room We hope that the Clubhouse has been reopened for residents to see and enjoy the renovations. We have tentatively scheduled a Photography exhibit in the Art Room beginning in August. These exhibits are usually up for 3 months, but will be determined as time goes on. Unfortunately, we no longer have the space behind the Front Desk for monthly displays of art by our residents, as the design committee has chosen permanent artwork for that area. Instead, the design committee has allocated a framed space outside the Art Room, where we can feature one artist each month. We are looking forward to be more active and seeing more friendly faces in our welcoming community. Maybe those faces will have a mask on but we can tell when a person is smiling back at us. Hope to see you soon. ~ Judy Harris and Lainy Vinikow Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Jayne Spencer, water colorist, will teach via Zoom in August
