38 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2020 | In June, the RV Club normally has a Lot Party. But this year, due to the pandemic and county health guidelines, the Social Committee, under the leadership of Tatis Cervantes Aiken, went to "Plan B." The party became an RV Lot "drive-through" Hawaiian Barbecue. It didn't take long as members drove through the RV Lot and stopped long enough to be handed their meal and a dessert. Live music was provided at four different locations along the route by Lawrence Aiken, Jim Chapman, Steve Malone, and Tim Griffin. Within 30 minutes, all the food had been distributed and the event was over. Thank you to Tatis and the Social Committee members and volunteers. Some RV Club members have ventured out as local campgrounds have reopened. Members have gone to Chula Vista RV Resort, KOA Temecula, San Diego County Dos Picos Park, KOA San Diego, and even Sequoia National Park. During these special times, RVing is a relatively safe way to travel and get away. Please check the RV Club website as some trips and events have been canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus. The next general meeting is scheduled for Tues., Sept. 22, in Abravanel Hall. Social time starts at 7 pm, and business meeting starts at 7:30 pm. RV Club The Ocean Hills Anglers has continued to hit the pause button due to the COVID-19 pandemic and our last club meeting was on March 10. The Club's scheduled ¾ day trips in April and May were canceled, and our two-day June fishing trip was canceled as well. The County of San Diego in mid-June authorized Charter fishing trips to resume. The club may go out on our planned 1.5-day trip July 12 to 14, but the trip is short on sign-ups and may be canceled. Many of our members are reluctant to go out on any fishing trips until a vaccine is developed, which is totally understandable. The clubs summer fish fry in August, which is usually a big hit, has been canceled and our end of year dinner as well. If you are not sure about joining our club, as a resident you may join club members on any trip as a guest, providing there is space available.
