Who would have ever 'thunk' that we would be here at this date and time? Yes, this is September, folks! At this writing, we are thinking of how we can make activities possible. We have heard from the line dancers, the tap dancers, the library members, the crafters, the swimmers, the racquet club players, and everyone is creatively thinking of how they can proceed with their activities of interest. The Recreation Department did consider how we might effectively launch the "Concert on the Green," keeping with the county guidelines, staying distant and wearing masks. But until we get the green light from the County Health Department to have an entertainment venue where people will gather, we decided to hold off until we get the go ahead. With the upcoming presidential election in November, we are inviting the League of Women Voters to provide a Zoom presentation on Wed., Sept. 30 at 3 pm. They are coming to us in somewhat of a different format but we are excited they will be here via a virtual presentation. There will be a Q&A period and more information will follow regarding access online. The Community Services Committee continues to sponsor this group and our thanks to them for initiating the set-up. Shred Day Information - Securitas/Community Patrol Services will be sponsoring a "Shred Day," again, on Sat., Oct. 17 from 9 am to 12 noon. The Shred Day will be held where the turnaround (to the left outside the Front Gate) is on Cannon Road. So, hop to it and clean out the office and/or closets. We know everyone has had plenty of time to tackle this begrudging task during COVID-19. Let's be honest, most of us did think about it, but now is the time to get started! • No, residents DO NOT need to show proof of residency. • All items will be disposed of in front of each homeowner/ resident. • Paper, cardboard, Mylar, vellum, floppy disks, video, and audio cassettes, CD-ROMs, DVDs, microfilm, and microfiche. • System can handle staples, paperclips, comb-binding, plastic snap-binds, and plastic spiral binds. We have started the tours of the newly renovated Clubhouse. It is sure nice to see residents here again. The process is going well and the comments regarding the upgrades have been favorable. The virtual video has been produced and it will be available for viewing on our in-house TV channel and the website, for all of those unable to take the tour. With so many of us feeling the uncertainty in the world, may we find laughter in the simplest of things? And with that note, here are some bits of humor to brighten your day! 1. So far, I've finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!" – Dave Barry 4. You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on my window and it said 'Parking Fine,' so that was nice." 5. My wife is really mad at the fact that I have no sense of direction. So I packed up my stuff and right! Say goodbye to summer and let's welcome fall. Some say it is the best time of the year. We hope the beautiful surroundings of OHCC will bring sunshine to your soul. We are looking forward to the good 'ole days when music fills this place and laughter bounces off the newly painted walls!
