This is a two-day event and I will post the winner in The Colony News magazine in October. The weather has been very hot, but we tee off at 7:30 am and are usually finished by noon before it gets too unbearable. We are abiding by the guidelines to keep socially distanced, wearing our masks in the parking lot and trying to keep safe. We still have not been able to have our monthly lunch meetings and we are hoping the Clubhouse reopens soon. The Grill is not open either, but I think the golf course is trying to get that to happen. Things are resuming slowly and all we can do is think positive thoughts. We have a great group of ladies for both the 18-hole group and our nine-hole group. If you are interested in joining us, we meet every Tuesday morning for our play day. Our membership chair, Maureen Herzberg, will be happy to sign you up, just call her at 677-4717. In the meantime, keep well and stay safe. Men's Golf Ladies Golf By Sam Currie There is no doubt the members of the Colony Men's Golf Club are missing our monthly lunch get-togethers in the Auditorium and barbecues by the pool. However, we should be grateful that we can still play our golf tournaments each Wednesday and the course remains open and in good condition. Additional good news is that one of the CMGC's major annual events, the 'Club Championship' has been scheduled for Sept.14, 16 and 23. Normally held in April, the event had to be rescheduled due to the pandemic. Since there are two winning spots, low gross and low net, both low and high handicappers have a chance of winning! So, we expect a good turnout for this fun event. Welcome to our newest members, Jim Gillespie and Dave Stacy, who now play regularly in our Wednesday games. And remember, if you want to get out there playing on a regular basis, why not join the Colony Men's Golf Club (includes membership in the SCGA) and give a call to John Hoetker at (951) 461-6758. You don't need a handicap to join.
