SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | OCTOBER 2020 9 STEVE PATRICK Background • SDV resident 4½ years • Current Board member • Member Community Enhancement Committee (CEC) • Member Rules & Regulations Review Committee • Board member of three previous communities (VP, Director at Large and President) Reasons for Running: • To ensure the Board remains transparent to the homeowners • To continue the successful navigation through the COVID-19 minefield • To ensure our future Fiscal Years' budgets do not become bloated, thereby needlessly raising our monthly assessments • To support our Lifestyle Director's attempts to bring back the fun to SDV under the COVID-19 guidelines Some Of My Thoughts It has been my honor to serve on the SDV Board of Directors for the past two years. One cannot understand what it takes to make our community go round until you have served on the Board. However, who could have foreseen the additional challenges we would be facing in 2020 with the coronavirus? With more of our facilities slowly reopening, hopefully we'll soon see the fitness center reopened, too. As you may have noticed over the past two years, I didn't always vote with the majority on a Director's motion. However, in the end, I supported the majority's view because that's what a team player does. I'm just an ordinary guy who wanted to be a Board member because I had/have a desire to make our community the best it can be, and I have worked hard towards that goal, but we're not there yet, there's still more work to do. If re-elected to the Board, this will be my last term. Even though our governing documents don't state this, I believe two terms (four years) is long enough for anyone person to serve on the Board. Thank you for your consideration. ROBERT VISE My wife Terry and I moved to SDV to be closer to our daughters that live in Escondido. We have owned our home for five years. During this time, we have been active in various clubs and events held at The Lodge. I joined the Finance Committee three years ago and Terry joined the Welcome Committee. I am currently the Vice-Chair of the Finance Committee. Some of my responsibilities are reviewing the monthly financials, reporting on the Reserve expenditures, and providing input yearly for the Reserve Study. My Vision as a Board of Director member: To help create a BOD with five voices working collectively together. In my 42 years in education I led many different committees and was a member of state committees. I feel very strongly in communicating with our community to be informed on issues on the BOD agendas. I have a plan to do so. Proper maintenance is to be completed on a regular schedule during the year to ensure the safety of community members and maintain facilities properly. Develop a proper one to three year plan of spending prior to starting projects which would be based on a realistic budget. Finally, I would want to increase valued input from each committee and keep them informed of issues germane to their committee. Resume Have managed multiple federal, state, district level, and grant budgets. Last position managed over $1.5 million in different accounts creating financial and summary reports. Created Request for Proposals and worked with vendors on designated projects for the school district. Been responsible for developing yearly strategic plans with measurable benchmarks along the way to completion. At each position I was able to develop a cohesive staff working together with administrators to meet the various goals and mandates handed down by the State and District Board of Education. Earned my Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision from the University of Colorado in 1998.
