8 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | OCTOBER 2020 MEET THE CANDIDATES MINIO GARCIA Community Activities, Clubs or Organizations: Board of Director President (2019-20), Board Of Director Secretary (2018- 19) Design Review Committee–Chairperson; Community Enhancement Committee – Secretary; Veteran's and Friend's Club – President, as well as participate in three additional SDV Clubs. Being on the Board of Directors the past two years, with the assistance of the management staff and homeowners, has enhanced and helped me create a better and cohesive working relationship with Chairpersons and Homeowner Committees, and has given me a unique ability to learn, motivate, and encourage those I work with. I am extremely loyal and dedicated to the wellbeing of this association, especially when it comes to its financial health and transparency overall. It has been exciting these past nine months to see most of the "TOP 10 Homeowner priority items complete or near completion (Lodge Redecoration, Painting of the Association's entrance, (4) Trellis's, Rear Patio Fireplace Repair/Repainting, Rear Patio Furniture Reslung). Indoor pool and Spa to be repaired in October 2020 with deck resurfacing, inside and outside, construction defect settlement near completion and our Budget is in the Black for the first time in the four years since I've lived here, at $52,465.45 as of 6/30/20! Additionally, I am well versed on the CC&R's, Policies and Procedures and Civil Codes after serving on numerous committees as Board Liaison and working for the County of Riverside Transportation Department. RALPH GRIDER Qualifications: • Served on the SDVFinance Advisory Committee last four years • Served as Chairperson of the FAC for last two years • Graduate of Purdue University with degree in Chemistry and Math • Vietnam Veteran • Responsible for developing budgets in various departments • Held several positions within the Paint & Coatings industry including: • Paint Chemist, Operations Manager, QA Manager • I added growth and profitability everywhere I worked • I increased sales, reduced returns, and increased profits Reasons for Running: • I will work with the other Board Members to ensure we keep this community beautiful • I will be flexible in my thinking, and hardworking carrying out my duties • I will communicate as much as the Civil Codes allows • I will emphasize teamwork and communication within the Board as I did with the FAC • I will work diligently with the FAC on the budgeting and Reserve Funding • I will work to keep the community informed on all financial matters TOM LONTZ Qualifications • Served on the SDV Board of Directors as the Treasurer from 2017 - 2019. • Served on the SDV Finance Advisory Committee for 12 months, serving as Chairperson for 6 months. • MBA with more than 30 years' experience in Systems & Technology • US Army Finance Officer • VP/CIO of a multi billion-dollar international corporation: • I managed Technology departments ranging in size from six staff in one location, to 600 staff in various countries around the world • I negotiated several multimillion-dollar technology service contracts • I managed the implementation of multiple accounting software systems Reasons for Running • Improve communications between the Board and homeowners by providing more timely email blasts, meeting minutes, and View articles. • Improve teamwork within the Board by encouraging each Director to share thoughts and opinions during discussions and deliberations. • Collaborate with the FAC to ensure we have a well-thought-out Operating Budget. • Facilitate FAC efforts to ensure a reasonable Reserve Fund strategy • Collaborate with Seabreeze to ensure we get the most from both on-site and off-site staff. • Provide financial transparency by offering homeowners an accurate, meaningful, and understandable view of the Association's financial situation.
