12 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2020 | Hello to the much appreciated cooler weather of November! Remember to pace yourselves so you don't get overwhelmed by unrealistic expectations to comply to all the responsibilities of this busy month. Even if you voted prior to Nov. 3, please keep in mind your blood pressure may rise while watching the tallies and final outcome on election day! Some of us will work up a sweat doing the mind boggling chore of turning back several clocks on Nov. 1 when once again we regain our lost hour of sleep, which I've always missed! We can work up a little fever waving our flags on Veterans Day (11th) but still look really cool wearing a poppy to show our deep pride to our veterans and to our country. Of course Black Friday, Nov. 27, will be exhausting for those shoppers racing from store to store in an early morning frenzy to shop and spend money. But my favorite is always Thanksgiving Day (26th) with all the hot yummy food along with family and good friends engaging in the celebration of harvest which the pilgrims had the good sense to initiate and a custom I hope we never ever lose. Speaking of food, the Bistro is once again able to serve food inside and outside but still with limited seating. So, as of this writing (Oct. 8), who knows what will be happening 40 plus days from now. If legally possible, Francisco will prepare his Thanksgiving Day feast, as has always been his custom. Please be sure to read your online eblasts as it will keep you current with any changes and new information. Kudos to Tracie Rodgers, she does a fantastic job keeping us informed with speedy updates and news sent out to us as quickly as she receives it. The free home delivery has ended; what was thought might be only a few weeks service to help the home bound people (plus limiting people in the Lodge) turned out lasting over six months. There is no way to personally thank the volunteers that gave up their free time, used their own car and gas, while missing a few favorite TV programs during record-breaking summer heat, while jumping in and out of their car to deliver meals so our residents could stay in and cool. May I say thank you from Francisco, his staff, the Bistro Committee and all of those that took advantage of the free delivery service — you volunteers deserve a gold star on the "Walk of Fame" for the giving of your time and kindness. Fellowship, volunteers and kindness all go together and really that's what Four Seasons is all about! The beauty of our development and it's financial strength is due to committees filled by VOLUNTEERS, so a most appreciative thank you to those deserving people as well. Are you bored and tired of doing nothing? Find something that interests you and volunteer, or start up something you like that's not being done here – it will put a smile on your face and some quality value to your unused time. That's me, Patt, double "T" Bistro Committee Our Mission: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially recognized CERT as an important part of a community's disaster preparedness readiness. October was The Great Shake Out month. Your Four Seasons CERT members and other local volunteer emergency response teams participated. On Oct. 15, Four Seasons CERT held a Four Seasons wide FRS radio check in and on Oct. 17 we participated with Diamond Valley ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) as part of the ongoing testing of the Four Seasons emergency radio equipment.
