| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2020 | 15 Social Committee It's time to wish all residents a Happy Thanksgiving! This year will be so different for many of us. My children have chosen not to gather at our house this year. They want to keep us as safe as possible. Other families will gather as usual. We all do what we feel is right. Either way we have so much to be thankful for. I love living in Four Seasons. Have you been to the library recently? We are open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. One terrific side effect of the pandemic is residents buying new books! I have stamped so many new books, both hardbound and paperback. The award for most bought books in November, once again, goes to Char Weakley! And, thankfully Char donates all her books to our library. Our non-fiction section has grown considerably. It includes recently published books. There is a beautiful section of small books on American History that covers most topics. Ask to see them. The other "positive" to come from the pandemic is the library taking over the puzzles. I called to ask to enter the game room to borrow a puzzle and it wasn't allowed. There wasn't anyone to care for the puzzles properly. I jumped at the chance for us to provide the puzzles to residents. We grew from having some in cardboard boxes to an over-flowing table full of challenges. We even have some 300 piece ones that are larger sized pieces for us with hand challenges. Come try one. It's almost as good as reading… almost. When we are able to open up normally we will still provide puzzles. Our committee is up and running but we have members that require surgery, family tragedies and some who are blessed to take trips. Our members step up to cover for each other when we can. Those keeping the library going are Sue Corum, Betty Crase, Kay Masonbrink, Anita Decker, Julie Kreun, Lis Woelke, Bernadette Koretke, Betty Barr, Char Weakley and Cookie Scott. I so appreciate all of them! I tried to insert the committee's picture but had problems. By now you know us. We appreciate all your "thank yous." We love our library and it's a delight to converse with other book lovers. Reading brings people into your life. Open that book! Until next month… Cookie Though Blair is no longer with us we are using his quotes. Rumor has it that he is getting a bionic foot. Not sure why… golf? From Bionic Blair, "Books are a uniquely portable magic." Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. Library Committee The Social Committee wishes you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! As of this writing, the Social Committee in conjunction with the Golf Cart Club planned a Halloween Golf Cart Parade. Weather and county permitting, hopefully the parade was held and brought some amusement and levity to our community. If you have lived in our community for a few years you may have attended one of our New Year's Eve celebrations. Although it may be somewhat different in style this year, please know that the Social Committee and New Year's Eve committees are working on plans to safely ring in the new year. (Disclaimer of course is dependent upon County regulations.) Further information will be sent out in eblasts as it becomes available.
