Village Vets
We thank everyone for their support in contributing to the care
packages we sent to deployed members of 1st Air Naval Gunfire
Liaison Company (1st ANGELICO) from Camp Pendleton. Kaye
Preston with the help of neighbors put together, and on Sept.
18 mailed eight additional packages to members of the Marine
Company on overseas duty.
On Sept. 11 Greg Coffey, David Hefler, Kaye Preston, Tom Murphy,
Larry See and Barbara Miller visited the 1st ANGELICO compound
and met with Major Carlton Allen and SgtMaj Jeremy Black. While
there, Tom and Barbara talked about things to help the Marines
rebuild the Company recreation/day room with assistance from the
Woodchucks and the Art Club. Tom and Larry sketched a few plans
towards completing two woodworking projects for them. The Art
Club will provide artwork for multiple wall murals.
For many years Tom Brennan has been assisting all OHCC residents
with American flag replacements and installation. The Village Vets
do this as a non-profit courtesy, to keep Ocean Hills beautiful. We
are still asking for volunteers to take on this worthwhile endeavor. If
interested, please contact Tom Brennan or David Hefler.
As you know, we are currently not allowed to have our General
Membership meetings, but we do have monthly Board meetings
and continue to conduct our business to provide assistance to active
military and veterans as much as permissible.
