| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2020 | 31 Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Bocce Club Mike and Joan Chunka volunteer their time to run the Bocce Buddies program to give bocce lessons to recent members. To have a good class, which includes a practice game, they need at least six people, but prefer up to 10. The first week's sessions they had six in the early one, but only four in the later one. The following week's session had 10 people sign up, but only three showed up. Common courtesy dictates that if you sign up for a session, but then can't make it, let Mike know you are not coming so he and Joan don't waste their time. The next and last session for 2020 was Nov. 16. Unless there is more interest in this program, it probably won't be offered again until the spring. Election - The Officers For 2021 Are: Jackie Crosby, President Dea Abdelaziz, Vice President Jean Meeks, Treasurer Joann Bush, Secretary The Directors For 2021 are Bill Forrester, Carroll Darr and Skip Dunham. Back To (Billiards) School: we can't get on the tables yet, but we can still improve our game. It's fun to watch the great players on YouTube, but if you want to learn to advance your own game take a look at some of the lessons we've gathered for you on your own Billiards Club website. The new year is coming, the traditional time for new beginnings, so start by making sure you have a sound foundation. You may practice for years, but if your fundamentals are flawed your progress will be painfully slow. Go to our OHCC website – Social Clubs – Billiards – Lessons. If you prefer written lessons you will see the most recent Thursday Lessons (1-4) in PDF format. If you prefer videos, click on "Charlie's YouTube Videos 2-7." That will take you to our YouTube videos: (Video #1 was about terminology, and that is better covered in the written PDF Lesson #1.) Here's a screenshot of Charlie bursting into a rousing rendition of "Ya Got Trouble (Right Here in Ocean Hills)" from The Music Man. Or, he could be explaining the effect of sidespin on cue ball deflection, it's hard to tell without watching the video. Take a look and see if you can figure it out. Billiards
