Delegate Assembly Report Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly Sun Lakes Country Club is located in the San Gorgonio Pass Area in Banning, California. We are approximately 2600 feet in elevation in the foothills of the San Gorgonio Mountains. I'm sure most Sun Lakers are aware of this information. However, most residents don't know we are located on the San Andreas Fault. Further, we are near Interstate 10, a major railroad line and our property has major power lines along with large gas and oil pipelines running through it. Review all of the above information and you realize we can be in a dangerous situation should an earthquake or railroad chemical or oil spill occur. We are fortunate to have an EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS ACTION PLAN (EPAP) in place to help save our lives when a major disaster happens. We are constantly being told it WILL happen! Unfortunately, most Sun Lakers don't take part in the drill. I'll bet they would be the first to yell for help should anything happen. In each District, the EPAP Coordinator, the District Delegate, and all of the Zone Captains are ready to respond when a disaster hits us. They check on every home to make sure you are all right. If there is an injury the nurses and doctors on our rescue teams respond and take care of the situation or send the patient on to the hospital for care. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN A DISASTER OCCURS? Each home has been given a "FILE OF LIFE" pouch. In the pouch is a yellow "RESIDENT STATUS PLACARD" which should be placed in a street facing window WHEN NO ONE IN THE RESIDENCE NEEDS ASSISTANCE. All a resident has to do is place the card in the window to tell us you are safe. Is that too much to ask? Evidently so, since too many of our residents do not cooperate and we have to knock on the door to see if they are all right. 4 | sun lakes lifestyles | june 2013 | community news DO YOUR PART THIS YEAR! DISASTER DRILL 2013: "At 1:26 pm on Mon., June 10, a simulated 7.6 magnitude earthquake will occur in the San Andreas Fault, with epicenter estimated 2 miles northeast of the intersection of Cherry Valley Blvd. and Beaumont Ave. in the San Gorgonio Pass Area."
