The 8-Ball Club We have had a fun and exciting time practicing and playing together in the sport we love. In tournament action this month, Dewey Allen took the 8-Ball honors for the month and Roland Harrah won the 9-Ball contest. Sadly we must bid adieu to one of our original players and good friend Dot Hurst. For five years (from the founding of our club ) and until recently she has served as our Captain's Assistant. Dot has found it necessary to relocate to Orange County and will be leaving us soon. We will miss her very much as an excellent player and truly beautiful person. Team meetings are on the first Mike Olson prepares for a shot, with Scott Martin and John Campbell looking on. JoAnne Martin strategizes her next shot as Mary Campbell waits her turn. Ron Erickson cues up as Pete Antoine looks on, and Johnny Ramirez and Rich Meumann wait their turn. The girls watch Larry Chase as he gives them pointers. 40 Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. Inhouse 8-Ball tournament is on the second Wednesday at 7 pm. In-house 9-Ball tournament is on the third Saturday of the month at 1 pm. Our "traveling tournaments" are nights when we either go to other nearby communities or host those communities here for team tournaments usually on Monday. Check the message board in the Billiards Room for dates and locations. The Summer BBQ / Pot Luck Party date has been set for July 14, for active members and their guest, please see the bulletin L-R: Rick Loney congratulates Roland board in the Billiards Room for sign up Harrah after the 9 Ball Tournament final game. and information. ~ Thanh Harrah Billiards for Fun Have you always wanted to learn to play billiards, or did you play years ago and want to sharpen your game? Come join the Billiards for Fun Group! We are all about having a fun time honing our skills, practicing our shots and laughing… a lot! Every Tuesday from 1 to 3 pm in the Billiards Room at the Lodge, you will find a lot of people, both men and women, doing just that. There is never a dull moment, and no two people play with the same partners each week — which is not only a challenge, but makes for a great time and allows players to get to know each other better. Our bi-monthly potlucks are always amazing. Even though the dishes are unassigned, we always have diverse contributions — offering the group a beautiful banquet. We definitely have the finest cooks at Four Seasons. No one goes away hungry, that's for sure! After each potluck, the group gathers in the Billiards Room for play and camaraderie. Although the women have only been playing for a few months, by August they will be ready to "pull peas" with the guys. That should take the challenge and fun to a whole new level. The women are so committed to improving their game, they practice in the Billiards Room several times a week on their own, and their commitment definitely shows each Tuesday when we gather to play together. Come out and join this laid-back, easy-going, nontournament, fun group. Stop by the Lodge Billiards Room any Tuesday from 1 to 3 pm to check us out, or contact Eileen Gilbert at (951) 922-6829 or egcellent@msn.com for further information. ~ Eileen Gilbert FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2013 | SPORTS & Outdoor ACTIVITIES
