Manager's Update At the May Open Session Board meeting, the Board of Directors approved the following committee recommendations: • Landscape proposal to upgrade the picnic area with access trails (cost $1,200) • Landscape proposal for replacement plant material along Potrero Boulevard ($900) • Landscape proposal to convert some small planter spaces with rock ($312) • Safety/Facilities proposal for the purchase of a portable pool shower plus a pad for placement (not to exceed $950) • Safety/Facilities proposal for the purchase of net extenders for use at the paddle tennis courts ($600) • Safety/Facilities proposal for the purchase of wind resistant umbrellas at the courts ($1,200) • Safety/Facilities proposal for the purchase of a kiln for ceramics use and related accessories ($4,000) • Social proposal for the Halloween Party on October 26, with upfront fees of $150 for equipment deposit funds • The Board ratified the proposed list of members for the Emergency Preparedness Committee and sub-committee membership The Board of Directors reviewed and acted upon the following business matters: • April 2013 minutes – approved • March 2013 Financial statement – approved • Approved the San Bernardino Symphonic String Trio event for August 9 (no cost) • Approved the bid to add insurance coverage to the Rec Center North building for the common area policy term ($3,045) • Approved the bid for the Lodge staff CPR/AED/First Aid training and certification/recertification ($650) • Approved the rule revision for the Election and Voting Rules for use of common area, for campaign purposes Management reported to the Board the completion of the following items: • Paddle Tennis courts repainted • Paver cleaning • New Bistro dishwasher installed • Planter pots removed from RCN area The Board of Directors suspended facility privileges for one member for delinquent dues, bringing the total for suspended privileges to eight current members. There were 24 accounts with balances over 90 days past due. The Board meeting is held on the second Thursday of the month, with the Executive Session at 9 am in the Lodge Conference Room and the Open Session at 1 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. 8 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2013 | community News By Lisa Lynn, General Manager As a reminder, the association is qualified housing for persons 55 years of age or greater as defined in federal and state law. Only persons aged 55 years or greater or other qualified residents as defined in the CC&Rs (section 10.3) may reside within the community. The Board of Directors may request age verification of any member of the association to verify their eligibility for occupancy. Attention! Mountain lion spotted: Please use caution when out walking. It was recently reported that a mountain lion was spotted in the community. It is required to keep your pet on a leash. When possible, walk with someone else since this will deter a mountain lion from approaching. Remember the creek area is a natural habitat to many wild animals. Incidents can be reported to the Department of Fish and Game and Beaumont Animal Control. Fitness Center Etiquette • Use equipment at your own risk • Use of equipment is on a first come, first serve basis – no saving equipment • Keep conversations or visiting to a low speaking voice (limit cell phone use) • Do not use excessive smelling creams/lotions • Wipe down equipment after use • No slamming or dropping weights • Allow others to workout between sets • Limit use of cardiovascular equipment to 30 minutes when others are waiting • No food or beverages, other than liquid in sealed plastic containers, are allowed
