4 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JANUARY 2021 By Tom Lontz, President, Board of Directors 2020, what a year! Had you ever heard of COVID-19 or Zoom before? Now they are household words. Who would have thought sport team face masks would be a great holiday gift? 2020 offered challenges around every corner. Virtual meetings, social distancing, and a run on small turkeys. Through it all our committee and club chairpersons made it work. They Zoomed, used sign-up sheets, and reservations to enable committees to function and clubs to have some enjoyment through the pandemic. I want to thank all the chairpersons, volunteers, and residents for making it work. COVID-19 and Zoom will with be with us for several months this new year. All of us will have to continue to use the new normal methods to hold meetings and fun events. We will continue to look for even better ways to accomplish what we must do and what we like to do. So, as we head into 2021 let us focus on the future. Let us search for new ways to make our community a great place to live. The Board is committed to this goal; however, we can only accomplish this goal with your help and support. Wishing you the best. Happy New Year! Current Projects • I have scheduled a vendor to come and submit bids for the cracks in the Pickleball courts and the lifting turf in the Bocce courts. • The vents in the indoor pools will be cleaned while the pool is closed. • We are currently researching the replacement of the outdoor pool plants. • There is a broken table on the paseo that will be fixed. Completed Projects • The indoor pool decking and plastering have been completed. • The bushes surrounding the Pickleball and Tennis courts have been trimmed down. • The cushions in the restrooms have been replaced. • The vents in the walking track have been cleaned by CSR. Code Compliance We have been notified by the park's supervisor from the city of Hemet that all city trees (Parkway Trees) are not to be maintained by the homeowners or outside landscapers. The City of Hemet municipal code states in Section 66-96: (a) No person shall remove, trim, prune, spray or cut above or below ground portions of any street trees in a right-of-way or easement without first obtaining permission from the Public Works Director. The trees will be maintained by the City upon the residents call in request then they would be on a trimming schedule and that may be up to six months or less depending on case by case. Property Service Manager's Report The association enjoys the leadership of an elected board. Heading the board is Tom Lontz, who serves as president. Some of the special duties of the president include: • Working closely with the board, manager, and residents to establish the overall goals of the association. • Ensuring that the association operates according to the association governing documents. • Presiding at the board and other meetings; preparing meeting agendas and ensuring that valid voting procedures are used. • Working closely with professional managers and other association professionals to ensure the successful operation of the association. • Serving as the official spokesperson for the community.
