In addition, we participate with other clubs for 18-hole tournaments and "away games" a few times during the year. Beginning Oct. 1, we meet at 8:30 am with a tee time at 9 am. The third Tuesday of each month is our monthly meeting and lunch ($10) at the South Clubhouse. Guests welcome! For lunch information, call Doreen Bryant, (909) 595-1974. You can read more about LEGS or check out our monthly newsletter at www.sunlakescc. com under "Golf." If you have questions and/ or would like to join our club, please call Judy Jones, (858) 752-1383. We emphasize fun and socializing while striving to improve our game and become more familiar with the Rules of Golf. Join us! Lady Niners I hope everyone has enjoyed our first month of 2021. Our weather has been wonderful which has given us an opportunity to enjoy several golf rounds. Lady Niners play every Thursday on our beautiful championship course. We enjoy a variety of golf formats each month. From time to time, some competitive rounds are available for members to enjoy such as Club Championship, Cup Day each month, Eclectic, or Member Guest. If you are interested in learning more about the Lady Niners, please contact Priscilla (our membership chairperson) at (951) 741- 7973. She can get you up to speed with the happenings and how to get involved. For now, if you would like to sign up for a golf round for each week, call Teri (951) 591-2565 no later than Monday of the week in which you want to play. Teri will let you know of your pairing and time of play before Thursday. I look forward to seeing many of you there. What a great way to enjoy this beautiful scenery. May you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day! Women's Golf The Women's Golf Club values our volunteers! They are the glue that helps keeps us together and 2020 tested each of us in many ways. Each year we ask our membership to nominate the person they feel best meets the requirements to be our Member of the Year. The Women's Golf Club proudly congratulates Annette Tringham as our 2020 award recipient. Annette's dedication to our club has been exemplary. She created several workarounds to deal with COVID-19. As Tournament Director, she saw that our club would be able to play golf throughout 2020. Annette has gone above and beyond the call of duty. She emailed information to club members on virtually a weekly basis; her messages were positive, humorous, and kept club members' spirits up. She guided tournament coordinators to implement social distancing and mask wearing that have enabled us to continue enjoying our golf club. Our club has survived the virus, and our members have been able to continue to play and enjoy the greatest game — golf. Annette volunteered to be Tee Times newsletter editor during 2020. She is passionate about keeping our club alive, both personally and in her role as Tournament Director. At the last Board Meeting, Annette was presented the Georgia Sobiech Member of the Year statue. Please congratulate Annette the next time you see her. She stared adversity in the face and conquered it — all in the name of the Women's Golf Club. We offer individual competition to our members. One is the Putt Pot — for $5 you are entered in a three-month long competition involving all postable games. You enter your putts, hole by hole, on your scorecard. These totals are averaged at the end of the quarter, and prizes are awarded. The player who had the lowest overall putts is named the Putter of the Year. Congratulations Mo — great putting! Another challenging competition is our Par Club. A one-time fee of $5 enters you in a five-year opportunity to par all 18 holes during postable games played with our club. Congratulations go to Mary Wilkie for achieving this difficult task. Proudly display your bag tag — great job! Our Treasurer, Kathy Weeks, broke 100 and received a bag tag — congratulations! Membership applications are on our website or call Jean Robison, Membership Director at (559) 779- 2674 for more information. Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. Annette Tringham, Member of the Year President, Marcy Tierney (left), awards Mo Farra the honor of 2020 Putter of the Year.
