14 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2021 | Valentine's Day is just around the corner! As with everything else we will celebrate differently. As of now restaurants are not open but I have a great idea. Cameron Books is open in Hemet and Barnes & Noble in Temecula as well. What better way to "stay at home" than reading a good book. May I suggest This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger, or The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd? We also have Hobby Lobby selling some expensive great puzzles! Use their website to get the 40 percent off your puzzle. I asked for the BOD support in closing the library during this latest stay at home orders. There wasn't time to make the community aware before the doors were locked. There were residents, out of loneliness, that stopped in just to say hello. Not everyone was having distanced holiday celebrations and the safety of the committee was my priority. And, it's not forever! After our lockdown we will reopen Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm. Saturday will remain 10 am to 12 pm as well. Others have expressed wanting different hours but we need to work around the hours volunteers are available. Remember to visit us in the mornings. I suspect masks will be with us for a long time. Face masks and gloves are still required while visiting the library. Most of you wear gloves when you enter, but committee members have purchased gloves for your use while there. We follow safety rules by having all books/puzzles quarantined for a minimum of three days before making them available to you. Your safety is important to us. Our current displayed paperback books are 2016-2020. Our fiction hardbound books are dated from 2010-2020. One great side effect of the pandemic is residents buying new books. We have received lots of 2020 hard bound books. We have a nice selection of non-fiction books under the paperbacks. You would be surprised at the great books available. We do not set dates for non-fiction. Take a moment to peruse that section. Four Season's authors have donated copies of their books to us. We cannot wait to make them available for you. We have a lot of talent in Four Seasons. Reading brings people into your life. Open that book! Until next month… Cookie Thoughts from Blair: "Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers." If you don't have a mask, Riverside County has donated 2,000 masks to Four Seasons… pick one up from a Lodge attendant. ~ Gary Emergency preparedness committee Facilities Committee Here we are in February 2021. Already there are a few projects in the plans for this year. These include remodeling the fountains around The Lodge, creating a cover for the pool equipment, and if needed, cleaning the carpet in the Ballroom. The carpet will be reevaluated in 2022 for replacement. These are a few of the major projects. There are always a lot of small things going on, things that have to be kept up, to keep our community looking good. We do monthly inspections around the community to keep up with any maintenance problems. We can always use help from the residents. If anyone sees a problem, please notify the front desk and fill out a maintenance request form so it can be logged and repaired. Our meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Until further notice the meetings are via Zoom. Any resident is welcome to attend our meetings via Zoom.
