60 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2021 | Herta Maria Alejandre, also known to many of her friends, as Rosemarie, who was a beloved wife and mother, loved by many. She was born June 16, 1933 and passed away December 15, 2020 at age 87. She was a longtime resident of Sun Lakes and a prior resident in San Bernardino. Herta married Joe who preceded her in death January 2011. They met in Germany, where he was stationed. They were married for 50 years. She became an American citizen in 1964. Herta was born to Sophie and Karl Witgenfeld in Asendorf, Germany. She is survived by her daughter Roswitha of Banning, her siblings Hanna, Willi, Dieter and Horst of Germany. Her other brothers, Alfred, Ludwig and Heini, of Germany, preceded her in death. She was a regular social butterfly. While living in Japan, she was an active member and the second Vice President of the NCO Women's Club. While living in Sun Lakes, she enjoyed biking, going for walks, dancing, bocce ball and some golfing. She was a member of the Friendship Club and Garden Club. She attended several events and took trips with her husband, friends, and relatives. She was a District 10 emergency volunteer leader. She was always ready to help her friends and neighbors by bringing them a meal when they were sick, walking their dog, checking up on them when they didn't pick up their newspaper, picking up their mail, and watering plants when they went on trips. She loved to cook; her meals were delicious. She loved reading books by her favorite author, Danielle Steel. She was always knitting sweaters and sold them at the Arts & Crafts event. She belonged to a German club where she would help out at different events. She attended services at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church. We will miss her smile, laughter and the joy she brought to each and everyone of our lives. We love you always and forever. Richard A.
