As told by Mia Larson, Pet Resident A while ago (Mama says two and a half years whatever that is), a nice girl found me running in the street in a town far away. I was very hungry, and sort of dirty, so I was really glad she took me in. She tried to find where I lived before but had no luck. After a few days she decided I would make a perfect birthday gift for my new Mama, so she dressed me up in a pretty dress and brought me here to live. Mama Sharon and Papa Bob said I could stay for a week so the nice girl could find me a new place to live. I guess a week is a long, long time because I'm still here. Nobody knew my name, so they called me Mia. I sure do love Mama and Papa, and I'm sure they love me too. I like to help around the house. Every morning Papa and I fetch the paper. I also help him take out the trash cans and get the mail. These jobs with Papa to the front of our house sometimes include seeing neighbors Larry or Lynn who just might happen to have treats for me! Morning walks with my pawrents are my very favorite, because I can see my doggo friends, like Cali, Shadow, Kahlua, Foxy and Timmy. Sometimes the bigger doggos scare me, but all the humans I meet are really nice and friendly. I'm so happy here, but I don't understand why Papa calls it The Island. Where's the water around us? Recently one of my relatives (I think she's my niece) came to visit for a while, which has been fun. Her name is Alice and we have had a good time visiting. She's bigger than I am, but I was still able to teach her something. I showed her how to use my special door to get to the backyard for, well, you know. If you see me on my walk, feel free to say hello, especially if you just might have a snack for me! Pet Of The Month Interview 10 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | MARCH 2021 We recently held our Annual Championship. It was a two-day event won by Greg Hyde. We had 24 participants who enjoyed the event; unfortunately the pandemic did not allow us to have our annual banquet. Maybe next year. We presently have 30 members and welcome anyone interested in joining us. We play different formats — blind draw two-man teams, four-man scramble, etc. Handicaps are used to determine scores. If you do not have a handicap, we will provide you with a temporary handicap until you have sufficient scores posted. Handicaps are adjusted monthly. We alternate between two courses — Hemet Landmark (Wednesdays) and Menifee Lakes (Thursdays). During the winter months we start at 8 am, in the summer we start at 7 am.
