What a wonderful opening was had in February! So many of our residential friends visited that Saturday. Books and puzzles came in and books and puzzles flew out. Check out the picture of returned items. We've certainly been challenged during this pandemic to keep busy. A good book is worth its weight in gold. And, if you haven't tried one of the puzzles, borrow a 100 piece to see how you like it. You'll work your way up to a 1,000 piece in no time. We are open two days a week. Tuesday from 10 am to 12 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm. We wonder when we will ever be allowed to have the library open unattended. Volunteers are needed now to have the doors open. Perhaps a few months down the road when most of us have been vaccinated, it will be different. I've observed this year we did not experience the flu running rampant. Wearing masks and washing up continuously has got to be the reason. Face masks and gloves are still required while visiting the library. If you have gloves please wear them when visiting. Committee members have purchased gloves for your use while there if you don't have any. We follow safety rules by having all books/puzzles quarantined for a minimum of three days before making them available to you. Our current displayed paperback books are from 2016-2020. Hardbound fiction is displayed from 2011 up. And our non-fiction is not displayed using dates. Do remember, magazines are not allowed in any business. The library committee wishes all residents who celebrate Easter a happy holiday. Giving books as presents is a great idea and remember our library. Dye those eggs! The library committee has lost a dear friend. Jim Hatcher was our much loved BOD liaison but so much more. We loved his sense of humor and his guidance. If we had a question and he didn't know the answer he was gone in a flash and came back with the answers needed. He supported us by attending our author talks, and our interviews with those wanting to speak about their books. We lunched with Jim, laughed with him, shared books with him and solved problems regarding our library with him. His passing has felt like losing a family member. RIP Jim knowing you are remembered with love. Reading brings people into your life. Open that book! Until next month… Cookie Thoughts from Blair; "You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me." C.S. Lewis 12 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2021 | Library Committee
