| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2021 | 11 Spring has arrived at Four Seasons! Look at all the plants and flowers that are responding to the warmth, sending out green leaves and colorful blooms. The astronomical definition of spring is the period between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. No matter how you define spring, it is a great time of the year! Plant Replacement Time-Line: Why does it take so long to replace a failing plant in the common area and/or Legends? The time line is as follows: Month-1 - by day-10: LSC member submits their Inspection Report requesting plant replacement. The request is sent to our landscaper, who does a site inspection and prepares a proposal. Month-2: the LSC meets on first Wednesday to review proposals and vote to approve/deny. Following LSC meeting; Approved proposal is sent to Finance Committee for funding determination; Management includes in Board's meeting packet. On the fourth Wednesday, Board votes to approve/deny; Management sends approved plant replacement proposals to Landscaper for scheduling plant replacement. Month-3: Landscaper completes plant replacement sometime during month three. Legends Rear Planter Renovation Project: Work has begun on renovating the rear planter areas in the Legends homes. The plant material is about 16 to 17 years old and has become overgrown, and/ or overcrowded. Our landscaper is in the process of trimming the shrubs back and removing excess plants, returning the appearance to the master-plan design of a low profile with maximum knee- high shrubs. The cut-back is opening up access to the water meters, sewage clean-outs, water faucets, the gas meters and air-conditioning units. The trimmed plants may look "butchered" but they will come back with a fresh start, and look wonderful in a few months. This process will be completed around October. We are hopeful that the Board will approve conversion of the spray irrigation system to a drip system, thereby conserving water. The Landscape Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 1 pm at The Lodge. Residents are welcome to attend. Correction from March 2021 Herald: In last month's article the tree identified as a strawberry tree behind the wall of the front entrance, is incorrect. We have a few strawberry trees in our community and are in our plant palette. The tree you see when you drive in or out, is a multi-trunk carrotwood tree. More information on carrotwood trees can be found at https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/ trees/carrotwood/carrotwood-tree-information.htm Landscape Committee A Legends home where the cut-back has been completed
