With our Annual Membership Meeting and election of Homeowner Directors happening in April, this is a good time to review some of our history. K. Hovnanian's Four Seasons at Hemet Community Association, Inc. began in 2003. The Board of Directors initially consisted of three homeowners and four Developer appointees. These three homeowners set the example for future Board members. Although strangers at first, they had one thing in common — to make Four Seasons the best possible place to live. Here is one example of their dedication: After traveling several hours on a pre-scheduled road trip, they arrived at their destination in Arizona. They then drove back to attend a Board meeting. After the meeting, they drove back to Arizona to complete their trip. Their names, as well as those of other Board members, are displayed in The Lodge. We will continue to pass the baton to our successors. By the time Four Seasons reached 10 years of age in 2013, there were 1,106 homes, and the Board was transitioning to all homeowner members. Soon the developer would leave, and we would be on our own. Committees were established to oversee our finances, care for our landscape, provide entertainment, as well as focus on safety, architectural guidelines, capital expenditures, and emergency preparedness. A library was set up and organized. In addition, clubs were formed to offer diverse activities for all. Outside vendors were hired to provide services to our residents, maintain our landscape, and keep our facilities clean. A management company was brought on board to execute decisions, directives, and policies of the Board. We were truly becoming an active adult community. We are now nearing the end of our second decade. In recent years, we have continued to review, update, and refine our governing documents. In 2018, your Board began working to develop a strategic plan. An important first step was defining standards for future Board members to meet. These doctrines are the following: Vision Statement: It is the vision of the Board of Directors that the Four Seasons at Hemet Community Association be the area's premier 55+ active adult community. Mission Statement: It is the mission of the Board of Directors to preserve and enhance the quality of life and sense of community through effective management of the Association, to enforce rules and covenants, preserve and enhance property values, and support initiatives and capital improvements that benefit the greater good of the Community. Values Statement: As the Board of Directors of Four Seasons at Hemet Community Association, Inc., we value • honesty and integrity above reproach, • professionalism in all that we do, • adherence to applicable laws and governing documents, • fair and consistent enforcement of community rules and regulations, • transparency of decision making and governance, • accountability for decisions and actions, • collaborative work efforts among Board members, Management, Committees, and Community members to achieve a sense of community, • respect for all community members' rights and entitlements, • pride, creativity, innovation, participation, and teamwork, • financial sustainability through responsible fiscal management, • quality maintenance of physical and landscape assets, and • maintaining and enhancing property values. Going forward, we need to maintain our momentum, not be complacent, and continue to have a spirit of cooperation. Let's see what we can accomplish! On a sad note, we lost another current Board member with the passing of Jim Hatcher. He served on the Board from 2015 to the present and was our previous President. Jim was a friend and colleague who strived to make Four Seasons a better place for all of us. Stay safe. Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2021 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Greg Rockvam, Cliff Post, Tony Criscenti, and Jerry Hawkins Jim Crase President
