8 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2021 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2021 | Social Committee The Social Committee would like to introduce Karen Hirschman: My husband Bill, our two Standard Poodles and I, moved to the Four Seasons from La Costa a little over two years ago. We searched communities all over the country before we decided this was the place for us. In 1994, we moved to California (settling in Leucadia, then La Costa, Carlsbad) from Chagrin Falls, OH. We moved like most California transplants primarily for the weather. We have five children and nine grandchildren located throughout the country. They are in Seattle, Cleveland, Buffalo and Los Angeles. My husband and I will reach our 40th wedding anniversary in 2022. We are trying to plan a grand family excursion to celebrate with all the kids and grandkids (COVID is not making this easy.) In my past life, I worked for my family's industrial catering business in Ohio. Since moving to California 27 years ago I have been in Real Estate and am currently the Broker for our company, Hawk Realty. I really enjoy real estate and the interaction with my clients, but I am only working part-time now. I like to read, golf, do jigsaw puzzles, swim, travel (especially cruises), and have recently learned how to crochet since moving here. I also enjoy doing crafty things. Pinterest has so many great ideas and after we had our palm trees trimmed, I have been painting the palm fronds with different themes. As a past member of the Shadow Ridge Country Club in Vista, I was active in many of the club committees planning outings and activities for the members. We live on a cul-de-sac where we have met many wonderful neighbors. I look forward to working on the Social Committee and helping get things back to normal so we can participate in the activities that make life in Four Seasons so great! The Social Committee hopes you were able to participate in some of the fun Spring Things sent out in eblasts in March. We are hoping for county restrictions to lessen soon so we can begin event planning for our community. Access Control Committee At the risk of sounding repetitive, your Access Control Committee continues to address the speeding concerns of the community, and to discuss implementation of "traffic control" measures. As was previously announced, the committee has been focused on various issues involving speeding and stop sign violations. We urge everyone to realize that in the interests of safety our Four Seasons Community must start to follow safer driving habits. Demographics that we have monitored over many months now clearly indicate that a large portion of the community is NOT observing the posted speed limits. The following is information provided by the DMV: An 8-sided red STOP sign indicates that you must make a "FULL STOP" whenever you see this sign. 1. Stop at the white limit line (a wide white line painted on the street) or before entering a crosswalk. 2. If a limit line or crosswalk is not painted on the street, stop before entering the intersection. 3. Check traffic in all directions before proceeding. Many drivers are not stopping at these signs. As a private community we are not exempt. We are aware that a cross-section of these violations is a result of outside vendors and residents' guests who are just visiting the community. Going forward, failure to observe these requests can only result in the committee ultimately seeking recommendations to the Board to implement stronger legal techniques that will ensure enforcement of these posted speed limits within our community.
