24 | OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2021 | Papercrafting Club Hello OHCC Living readers from the Papercrafting Club. It's early April, spring has sprung, and longer, warmer days are ahead! This month we're focusing on Group 3. With 17 members, Group 3 has over a quarter of the total club membership in its ranks. Since COVID-19, the group stays active by doing weekly Zoom meetings on Fridays at 10 am. Now in its fourth year, Group 3 formed as the club gained many new members after becoming "official." Some in group 3 are the original pioneers of the club itself. The co-leaders of Group 3 are Karen Lohr (also Club Membership chair) and Chris Sanderson (also Club Website manager). Karen was with the original group that had started out as the Sewing club. Each week a member takes a turn at determining the project. Karen maintains a rotation schedule. Members choose to do one of two categories: "Create a Card" (a theme, color, object, die, or stamp is chosen and distributed to the group, around which each member creates a unique card using their imagination). Or they can "CASE" a Card (Copy and Share Everything: A card is found, (Pinterest/ YouTube) and the member sends out instructions to the group). After working on their project at home, members join the Friday Zoom. Everyone starts by sharing news and catching up. Then each person shows their card, discussing their inspiration, design ideas, techniques used, difficulties encountered and how they made corrections. Members choose to either join the zoom meeting or send photos to Karen to share with the group. In addition to Karen and Chris, the other Group 3 members include: Jaime Albano, Sandy Badovinac, Shellie Bean, Margaret Burgess, Tatis Cervantes-Aiken, Sandy Coleman, Jeannie Martinsen, Sondra Peppe, Jackie Ramseyer, Barbara Roe (Club Secretary), Elaine Santi, Lisa Seamans, Jackie Windes and Karen Yoder. Jaime and Karen Y. are Stampin up Reps. Barbara Roe was instrumental in getting the club started and has taught classes, sold her creations, and donated hundreds of cards to special groups over the years. Sondra Peppe, another long time cardmaker, has a generous heart as well, volunteering her time and talents with the North County Assistance League as its current director. Future articles will focus more on these and other members with special stories. In May, Group 4 will be highlighted along with their cards. Until next time, enjoy the rest of April! It's Keep America Beautiful and National Humor Month folks, so stay beautiful Ocean Hills and keep on laughing.
