42 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2021 Arizona Congresswoman Debbie Lesko has reintroduced a resolution with bipartisan support to designate April 18, 2022, as National Amateur Radio Operators Day. Introduced on April 19, the measure recognizes the important contributions amateur radio operators have made. She introduced a similar bill in the last Congress. "Throughout history, amateur radio operators have provided invaluable services to our communities," Lesko said in a news release. "I am proud to reintroduce this resolution to honor the important contributions amateur radio operators have made in Arizona and across our nation. Amateur radio has brought people together and has provided critical emergency communications during natural disasters. Amateur radio is a vital part of our nation's communications infrastructure. Lesko said she was initially approached to introduce the resolution during the last Congress by then 12-year-old Raymond Anderson, N7KCB, of Peoria, Ariz. You too can be a part of the Amateur Radio community and help us celebrate National Amateur Radio Operators Day next year (if the bill passes!) by joining our club! We can help you study for the license and advise you on all aspects of the hobby. You may also want to join us for our Family Radio Service Network held every Wednesday evening at 5:15 pm on channel 3, the Amateur Radio 2-meter Network on 145.645 mHz same day at 5:30 pm, or our club meeting held the last Friday of each month at 10 am in The Lodge Ballroom. ~ Jim Peterson, jim. k6jwp@gmail.com Radio Club We hope to have a location approved soon and are working on our budget to make it a great addition to our community. Although still in progress, a steering committee is now meeting regularly and we welcome Martha Tureen as the president. Martha is a master gardener for Riverside County and we have several other master gardeners who have joined the group. We hope to have a location approved soon and are working on our budget to make it a great addition to our community! If you are interested and have not yet signed up, please email Pat Wayne at pwayne1@outlook.com. ~ Pat Wayne Community Garden Club Your Taste d'Vine Wine Club will have their first meeting of 2021 on June 17! The evening includes our Entertainment Guru, Mr. Colin Taylor, who is ready to go with a lively presentation for us. We will also be presenting some wonderful wines from Lebanon. Lebanon is a small country nestled at the eastern most point of the Mediterranean, where the waves wash its shoreline from the furthest point North to its lowest point South. Lebanon has a long, dry, hot summer with plenty of sunshine and a short, rainy, cool winter with fog covering its green mountains. Vines are planted on the face of the mountains and through the valleys. With a strong French influence and organically grown, these wines are sure to please. Please join us June 17 (we meet the third Thursday of each month) in the Ballroom. Doors open at 5:15 pm with the meeting starting at 6 pm. Please bring a favorite wine to share with your table, along with an appetizer such as crackers, cheese, or fruit – along with two glasses for tasting. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for resident guests. Look for your Bacchus Letter via email. I am hearing reports of some group activities resuming, so we may be able to again hold our monthly meetings, gay cinema evenings, and even occasional BBQs, parties, etc. Pencil in May 27 at 6 pm for our renewed group meeting. If that date proves problematic we will update our Facebook page and email list with any late-breaking developments. We're almost there! Thanks for your patience; we hope that you are all ready to come out again. For info, please contact Dale at (951) 797-0364 or dalebeckes@ gmail.com. ~ Dale Beckes Rainbow Group
