Corrections and/or changes may occur. A complete copy is available in the HOA Office. Directors Present: President Walt Bowman, Vice President Joanne Deacon, Secretary Amy Horlock, Treasurer Glenn Sailer, Director Tom Brackin, Director Del Mitchum and Director Mary Ann Plummer Absent: None Others Present: General Manager Jim Morgan, Office Mgr/ Adm. Assistant Kimberly Evans MEMBER COMMENTS: A homeowner would like: 1) A breakdown of expenses incurred by President Bowman when he published his Pool Pavilion Project, 2) Recommended publishing a monthly maintenance schedule in The Colony News each month, 3) Recommended allowing homeowners who are unable to attend Open Session meetings to be able to submit questions prior to the meeting and 4) Questioned why the Board Questions and Answers are not published in the newsletter. PRESIDENT'S REPORT: President Bowman read a quote, "If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostilities." ~ Henry Wadsworth Long fellow. Pool Pavilion Project: Voting for the Pool Pavilion Project will end at 3:00 p.m. on June 1, 2021. Tabulation of the votes will take place during General Session on June 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse Auditorium. Majestic Asset Management Litigation: On June 3, 2021, the Board will be meeting with the golf course Receiver, Majestic attorney and Association attorney to determine the timeline needed by the Receiver to complete the work required by the Judgment. Yard Sale, Saturday, May 22: The community Yard Sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 8 am to 1 pm. Board Candidate Statements: The Board Candidate Statements are due by 5 pm on Friday, June 11. Please send them directly to THE INSPECTORS OF ELECTION at info@ theinspectorsofelection.com as directed on the form. Maintenance Staff: Currently, the Association has only three Maintenance Staff members. The current job market is making it difficult to fill maintenance positions. Even the temp agencies are having difficulties. The Board is considering reducing Clubhouse amenity hours temporarily in order to adjust for the lack of staff. The Board will keep the membership updated. Rumors: President Bowman addressed community rumors and reminded the membership of what his father used to say, "If you never say something about a person, you will never be misquoted." Rumors are very hurtful. When you say something about a person you really don't know, that can be harmful and hurtful. Before speaking, please check to ensure you have the facts. Executive Session: • Approved April 15, 2021 Executive Minutes • Discussed Majestic Asset Mgmt Litigation Update • Review State Re-Opening guidelines with Legal • Reviewed Contract Matters • Reviewed various Homeowner Requests BOARD LIAISON REPORTS: Director Brackin: Library Committee - Looking for volunteers to deliver the excess books to the library in Murrieta at least twice a week. Please contact Shirley Leidenfrost for details. Director Mitchum: Communications Committee - Currently working on their Outreach to History project, the digital census and reorganizing office for the Clubhouse reopening. Rules and Regulations Committee - The Board will be ruling today to finalize the Discretionary Election Rules, PODs and California Vehicle Code rules. Treasurer Sailer: Landscape Advisory Committee - Chairperson Jane Payne gave a report on the Area Walks, which are held every spring to look for plants, trees and turf that have any issues. A list is created from the walk-through. The Landscape Superintendent sends the documented items to Environmental Concepts to obtain quotes. Board will be reviewing some of these quotes for approval in today's meeting. Committee hopes to get the planting done before the summer heat starts. They are also working on a historical recap of water and cost savings from the turf renovation projects. They anticipate having this report ready for Board review in June. ECLM is working on removing weeds and spraying for bugs, as well as trimming back plants that had frost damage to stimulate growth. Honoring of Verne Strong: On behalf of the LAC, Ms. Payne thanked Verne Strong for his many years of commitment to the Colony landscape and irrigation. He has been very generous with his time and knowledge and it has been greatly appreciated by all. He and his wife will be moving out of the Colony soon. Violations Committee: There has been a 13 percent increase of new golfers, which is good news, a 35 percent increase in BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS: MAY 20, 2021
