| THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2021 | 27 By Kathleen Brown, 698-5244 The Colony Cousins Genealogy Club is hoping to start our first time back together this month, meeting either outdoors or indoors. As we usually have had around this time, it will be a Summer Potluck, and we'll send out an email to let all members know. The Board is eager to see everyone again and get back to our quest to learn more about our family history. If you have any questions or are interested in joining, please call Charlene Patterson, president, at (951) 239-1229. By Laura Anderson, 951-313-4563 and Maggie Olson, 574-252-1679 The Colony Book Club is back! Welcome to any and all who have enjoyed The Colony Book Readers in the past, and a special invitation to all who enjoy reading and gathering for a once- a-month lively book discussion. Whether you are new to The Colony or a long-time resident, we welcome you to meet with us on the second Wednesday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 am in the Clubhouse Meeting Room. If you have any questions, please contact Maggie Olson at (574) 252-1679 or margaretolson53@gmail. com. There is no need to RSVPā€¦just come! Our first meeting of 2021 will be on Wednesday, Aug. 11, when Laura Anderson will lead a thoughtful discussion of Michelle Gable's A Paris Apartment. "When April Vogt's boss tells her about an apartment in the ninth arrondissement that has been discovered after being shuttered for the past seventy years, she gladly accepts the challenge of organizing and cataloging the contents. Once in France, she quickly learns that the apartment is not just some rich hoarder's repository. Beneath the cobwebs is a goldmine of history, portraits by the Masters, letters and journals from princes and kings. Who was the owner, Marthe de Florian, and why did she never return to Paris?" Come and join us! Genealogy Book Readers CLUB NEWS By Ron Gentile, 894-6907 Genteel Voices is an 18-member musical ensemble, comprised of 16 singers, a pianist and a percussionist. We've been performing since 2008, using original songs and my choral arrangements. We are probably best known for our "Music and the Movies" programs, and we are currently rehearsing for the 21st of these, which will feature Steven Spielberg/John Williams collaborations on E.T., Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Schindler's List, Close Encounters and Home Alone. Pandemic rules permitting, our program will be Sunday, Aug. 22. Pick up a flyer next to Kara's office or give me a call for more details. Genteel Voices Returns: "Music And e Movies XXI" By Brenda Sindorf, 698-7097 and Gloria Brosky, 714-292-8507 Please join us in the Annex at 10 am on Monday, July 19, for our first meeting of the year! Last year we had to cancel the Garden Tour and the flower arranging class due to the pandemic. We look forward to putting these items back on the books. Should you need additional information, please call Brenda or Gloria. Come bloom with the Petal Pushers! Petal Pushers Garden Club
