28 | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2021 | CLUB NEWS Men's Golf By Sam Currie, 461-0801 One of the aims of the Colony Men's Golf Club is to provide its members with a variety of formats in its Wednesday tournaments, ranging from scrambles and shambles to various individual play games. One of the more interesting formats is named the "red wolf scramble," during which, playing in teams of four, each team has to choose a different team member to complete that hole, playing from the red tees. His score is added to the collective scramble score of the other three members. It's a game of strategy as well as skill, and is very enjoyable. Our congratulations go to the winners, Don Brown, Hank Fleischer, Ed King and Sam Currie. However, all of us in the Club are looking forward to the re-opening of the Clubhouse and therefore getting back to the CMGC's social agenda; one that includes monthly luncheons, barbecues, our annual Awards Banquet and our biannual Pancake Breakfast. As a reminder, apart from providing a great social occasion, funds raised from these Pancake Breakfasts go towards the funding of our scholarships for Murrieta High School golf athletes. So, let's hope we'll be able to hold our November Pancake Breakfast this year! Why not join us on a Wednesday, and call John Hoetker at (951) 461-6758 if you're interested in becoming a member. By Kathy Lewis, 412-0006 SAVE THE DATE! All players and members are invited to attend the first Racquet Club dinner of 2021 on Saturday, July 10. It will be a BBQ in the Pool Pavilion. Be on the lookout for an email giving more details, including, time, menu and cost. We look forward to seeing you there!! Racquet Club Don Brown Hank Fleischer Ed King Sam Currie
