| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2021 | 5 WHY DID YOU MOVE TO SUN LAKES? That is a question we have asked hundreds of residents and you would be surprised at some of the answers. "To be near friends or relatives." "I like the safety of a gated community." "The prices of the homes are great." "My kids live within driving distance." "I am a half hour to an hour away from everything — the beach, the desert, the mountains, what could be better?" "Lots of activities, Sun Lakes is a place to be doing things." "Just retired, time to move and meet new friends." "Sun Lakes is a great place, it has everything." "Some family live in the desert, wanted to be close, this is better." "We have golf courses and clubhouses full of things to do." "It is quiet and no one will bother me." There probably are a hundred more comments as to why anyone would move to Sun Lakes. Sit down, put your head back on a pillow and think about all of the things you can do at Sun Lakes Country Club. Think about all of the facilities, all of the 80-plus clubs. There must be one or more that might be of interest to you. Our calendar of activities will come back soon. The Districts have submitted their events for next year. This year we hope we will be able to present District Holiday Parties for our residents. Our scheduling will depend upon the State of California. WHAT WILL THEY ALLOW US TO DO AND WHEN WILL IT TAKE EFFECT? That is the question every organization in the state is waiting for the answer. For whatever reason any of us moved to Sun Lakes, how can we resist the activities that happen almost every day? How can we not use the facilities and enjoy the amenities that are available to us on a daily basis at no cost? One of the big bonuses we can enjoy is the new friends we will make when we start participating. As we have been told many times, "you are on vacation everyday living at Sun Lakes, so much to do and the people are so friendly." There are two amenities at Sun Lakes that are revenue generating entities — the golf courses and the food and beverage venues. Since our residents do not use these facilities enough, all homeowners pay the losses each month. This year we are budgeted to pay each month in our assessment $35.83 for our golf courses and $8.12 for our food and beverage operations. The cost of operating these facilities could be reduced substantially if our residents used them more often. As you drive on our streets, residents will wave "hello" to you. When you visit our facilities, as you pass someone, they will say "hi." In the beginning years of Sun Lakes, we were taught to be friendly… PLEASE KEEP IT UP!
