Sun Lakes Quilters Sew What? Club We had our very first monthly birthday luncheon in 16 months! Our June birthday girls chose Russo's to celebrate their birthdays and we were all happy to get back to our regular fun get-togethers at an actual restaurant. Currently, two of the gals in our group recently took a trip to Mexico and one of them is putting together a photo album of their trip. Personally, I am working on a photo album for my younger son. I hope to have it finished for his birthday in August. He will be 50! Back in the day, I had numerous photo albums of our family's events, religiously taking pictures, getting them developed, and organized chronologically in 13 albums. Along came the scrapbooking craze, and I attended a party which alerted us that all our photos were not safe in those nasty picture albums. Suddenly, everything must be acid free, lignin free, use pH-neutral supplies, and all should be archival safe. If we don't remove them from those albums, they may likely disintegrate in our lifetime. What? I went home and removed all photos from those 13 albums. There they stayed in "safe" boxes, still organized but not displayed anywhere for the next 30 or so years. During the pandemic, I thought this was the perfect time to tackle the organization of all those photos and put them into albums. The first album was for my older son, which I presented to him when he came to visit in April. I thought he was going to cry when he looked through it. Now that our Scrapbooking group is meeting again, I am able to work on the album for my other son, while visiting with my fellow crafters. The process of creating these photo albums has been such a joy as it allows me to relive so many wonderful memories created as my sons grew up. You might consider joining our group and tackle a similar project that may be waiting for you. Please contact either Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher (951) 902-9768 if you have any questions. There is no fee to join. We meet Mondays from 1 to 3 pm in the Multipurpose Room. Scrapbooking Now that we are able to meet again a few of us that met at our June meeting have made a decision to only meet twice a month as interest has waned a bit. So starting in July we will only be meeting on July 6 and 20 at our normal 12:30 to 2:30 pm time slot. If you have any questions give me, Gail, a call at (951) 797-3589. Also if you have any creative ideas on projects we'd love to hear your thoughts. See you and hope you have an enjoyable Fourth of July.
