| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2021 | 25 Wine Club The Sun Lakes Wine Club is growing by leaps and bounds with over 160 members as of June 1. Plans are currently underway to hold the first event scheduled for Sun., Oct. 24. We have secured a Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Sommelier from Palm Desert who will speak to the members about the wines she will be presenting along with food pairings from the restaurant. Mark your calendars for the Inaugural Event of Les Vieilles Vignes for the evening of Oct. 24 to enjoy wine, food, and meet fellow Sun Lakes' oenophiles. There will be a separate charge for wine pairing events. In addition to the wine and food, there will be a few surprises in store at this Inaugural Event. Membership applications are available in the Main Clubhouse Information Rack located next to the Information Desk. For more information, contact President Karen Clavelot at (951) 330-0531. Our first variety show by Zoom should have been aired on Channel 97 by the time you read this article. If so, you will have seen our smiling faces reveal our love of theater. If not, keep your ear to the ground for more information, because you won't want to miss it. We have a strong desire to have you join us and catch the contagion! Whether you are most comfortable contributing behind the scenes or out front, you will have a good time. Our meetings take place in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on the first Tuesday of every month at 1 pm. Visit our meeting and learn about us first-hand. For more information, call Martie Steggell at (951) 769-3217. Int'l Culture Club It's the news we've all been waiting for! Board members of the International Culture Club voted to schedule the first ICC monthly dinner and dance for July 8. Reservations will be accepted on July 1 at the North Clubhouse from 3 until 4 pm. There will be a limit of six people per table. A dinner selection must be made at the time of the reservation and the price is $25 per member. Members who paid for the March 2020 dinner, which was canceled due to COVID, will not be charged to attend the July event. Menu selections will be available on July 1 when you sign up for the event. The theme will be the Fourth of July, so come decked out in your red, white and blue and dance to the music of The Stingers. All 2020 paid memberships are being carried over to 2021. New members for 2021 will pay a half-year membership of $12.50 per person. Not a member? ICC has a program which allows any resident to attend an event, with a reservation, one time before you join. Come to the North Clubhouse on July 1 between 3 and 4 pm with a check payable to ICC for $28 per person to make your meal selection and be assigned a table. For more information contact Evelyn Hawkins at (951) 845-7199, Martie Steggell at (951) 769-3217 or Donna Leone at (951) 797-0832. We are looking forward to seeing returning and new members at our first star-spangled event for 2021 on July 8. The Felines of Sun Lakes group formed because during COVID, cats in the community began to slip into a general state of ennui. We meet every Monday with our cats and introduce them to new activities such as skateboarding, swimming, marbles, hide and seek, pickleball, tatting, wreath making, plumbing, mediating, bowling, political essay writing, snow ball fighting, and hat collecting. On the last Monday of each month, we will pick a subject to do a deep dive with our cats. This month our topic will be the History of Gregorian Chants. The cats will have an opportunity at the end of the presentation to paint their interpretation of their favorite chant. We would love for you and your cat (or cats) to join us!
