While the Uke Strummers will be dark in August, starting in late September we will start Sun Lakes Ukulele Strummers. Al Morton (pictured at right), our esteemed Director, says, "If you always wanted to play a musical instrument, the ukulele is for you because it is the easiest one to learn." From beginners through old timers, whether or not you sing on or off key, this is the group for you. We will continue to meet in the Bus Room on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 pm. If you have sheet music that you would like to donate to our group, or you have questions about our "new direction," please call Judy at (951) 797-3130. We resumed our gatherings on July 25, so I will write about that get together in next month's article. Everyone was so enthused and looking forward to that gathering that I'm hoping it will be a large group to kick us off again. The energy was contagious and I expect July 25 to reflect that. Our August event will be on Sun., Aug. 22 and the deadline for signing up and payment will be Aug. 12. So mark your calendars and call in your reservations by Aug. 12 to Donna Harrington at (909) 561-5066 and drop your checks off to her at 5393 Riviera where the 80s Plus box is out front. Our gathering is at 3 pm at the South Clubhouse. Our entertainment for August is Sheila and Larry James, our very own Jamestown. I know they are a favorite, so I wanted to give you all a heads up on this one. If you or your spouse are 80 years old or older, you are eligible to be a member of the wonderful 80s Plus Club. It is also common for members to bring guests whether they are family members, out of town guests, caregivers, or even other Sun Lakers who may want to give us a try before joining. We gather each month for a social dinner and first rate entertainment. We are always in the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. Our schedule is the fourth Sunday of each month for the rest of 2021. Our dues are just $10 per year and will be waived through the rest of this year, and we will begin collecting for January through December instead of July through June. I am so looking forward to seeing you all soon!
