Hiking Club
It is Mountain High time for the Hearty Hikers.
Saddled between two tall topographic features we eagerly
"head for the hills" as the weather turns warm. To our southeast
are the San Jacinto Mountains with over two dozen trails. Some
have colorful names like: Suicide Rock, Skunk Cabbage Meadow,
Caramba or Deer Springs. Others bear the names of pioneers to the
area like: Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail, Lykken Loop, Webster Trail or
Jo Pond Trail.
Across the Pass to the north are the San Bernardino and Gorgonio
Mountains with the tallest peak in the southland, San Gorgonio.
There is Gold Mountain and Silver Peak; Siberia, Wildhorse and
Fish Creek; South Fork Meadows, North Fork Meadows and Johns
Meadow. There are trails to Dollar Lake, Dry Lake and Big Falls.
California has state parks at Palomar Mountain, San Timoteo
Canyon, Lake Perris, San Jacinto, Chino Hills and Silverwood Lake.
So, get up, get out and get going with our group as we wander
through nature's wonders this summer.
We hike on the second Wednesday each month with the Lunch
Bunch and on the first and third Wednesday a more Spartan group
hits the trails.
