| THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2021 | 3 At the last General Board of Directors Meeting in June, there was an audible gasp heard and felt throughout the Auditorium. A slide was put up on the screen with all the names of much- loved Colony residents who passed from life into eternity from January 2020 to June 2021. There were 118 names listed and I want to express my condolences to everyone who is missing their loved one. I know some of how you're feeling. Hopefully, you too have felt the care and concern from fellow Colonists. This is a wonderfully caring and loving community! In that same length of time, nearly 200 new Colonists have joined our ranks by simply deciding that The Colony is the best place to own a home! That doesn't include any new residents who were fortunate enough to be able to rent a home here. I want to give you all a big WELCOME! I hope you were all able to take part in the recent "reopening activities!" It was a wonderful weekend to watch friends and newly-acquainted Colonists connect with such joy and enthusiasm – there were smiles all around! This summer, please take time to enjoy all The Colony has to offer! Your current Board has taken some time to refresh and be ready for the next important event of the year, the Board of Directors election. Yes, it is coming up and you should know what to expect. Please make sure to have your voice heard – by voting! The dates below are dictated by our governing documents, specifically Article 10 of the Rules and Regulations, to align with the date of the September Board Meeting, when the votes will be counted and the election will be complete. • Aug. 13 (Friday) – Official ballots will be mailed out. • Aug. 17 (Tuesday) – Candidates' signs may be posted after 8 am. • Aug. 17 (Tuesday) – Meet the Candidates Forum, 6 pm in the Auditorium. • Sept. 16 (Thursday) – Annual Meeting of the Members and Election of Directors, 1 pm in the Auditorium.
