| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2021 | 13 If you need to evacuate, never leave your pets behind. Take them with you. Pet owners need to have an emergency plan in place so we are prepared to evacuate quickly with our animals. Links to several websites with excellent information and check lists are below. You can download a checklist that matches your pet's needs. Additional suggestions from OHCC PLC 1. Take pictures with your pet. Keep in your file and on your cell phone. (If your dog is lost, it helps distinguish her from other like her who may become displaced during emergencies. Keep a printed copy in your evacuation kit. 2. Register your pet, with a picture of you with her, at fidofinder. com before a disaster. 3. Attach a blinking light to her collar and turn it on before leaving home. Available from Ellen Kippel, PetLovers Club. 4. Consider buying a "TILE" Tracker. It's a bluetooh GPS to put on anything you might lose- car, keys, wallet., etc. The tiny one for pet collars is the "Tracktive". Helping Hands Group Grandma's Closet is back Hello neighbors. When I was fairly new to Ocean Hills, my youngest granddaughter (one year old at the time) was coming for a visit. I had to scramble to find a car seat, Pack'n'Play, stroller, etc. I have carefully stored those items in my garage, loaned them out on occasion, and added to the collection. I knew then and I know now that I couldn't be the only grandparent who finds herself in this position. I was familiar with OHCC's Helping Hands group and thought that we should have something similar for childrens' things. My friend, Jean, told me about Grandma's Closet and I thought we should revive the old girl. Who's with me? How will it work? I will keep a list of people who have items to loan, their addresses and contact info, along with the items they wish to share. When someone inquires about borrowing an item or two, I'll supply the list, and the donor and recipient can work out the details. What do I need from you? If you have items you wish to loan out (strollers, car seats, carriers, Pack'n'Play, high chair, books, toys, etc.), send me an email (naomibkatz@icloud.com) enumerating those items, along with your name, address, phone numbers and email address. I will add you and your items to the list. If you find yourself in need of some items, please send me an email (naomibkatz@icloud.com) and I will forward the list to you. Finally, if you would be kind enough to volunteer to back me up, I'd appreciate it. Again, all you need to do is email me (naomibkatz@ icloud.com). Thank you so much for your attention and anticipated assistance. ~ Naomi B Katz
