| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2021 | 29 Hello again, Photo Club members! We're finally getting to resume our lives, and while we can't really say we're back to normal, we're a heck of a lot closer to normal than we were in March of 2020, when the state told us all to stay home. Which we mostly did, the first time. We're resuming our meetings on the third Thursday of the month at 1 pm in what used to be the Ladies Club Room but is now called the Lamia Room. FYI, Lamia is a city in central Greece, inhabited since the third millennium BC. We hope to have a photo shoot, offsite, in August, with the subject to be determined. It might be Queen Califia's Magic Circle in Escondido, an outdoor sculpture garden which we planned to do in 2019 but for some reason we did not. Queen Califia's Magic Circle is in Kit Carson Park, and is open Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 am to noon. Then, in September, we plan to review the results of the photo shoot together, with each photographer sending in their best shots to be presented. In October, we hope to have Mike McMahon from the Carlsbad Senior Center teach us a class, on a subject to be determined. Possibly something about how to take good photos using your phone, since phone cameras have gotten so good. Mike has dozens of topics that he can teach, so feel free to make suggestions. In November, somebody beat us to the room, so we may go dark that month, or we may go try to use whatever Mike taught us in October, either as a photo shoot or independently. In December, we hope to have an informal holiday party at our regular time in the Clubhouse (no band, no dancing, no booze). The Photo Club has an opening for a Vice President on our board. The Vice President attends our infrequent board meetings and presides if the President(s) are absent. There is no obligation for the Vice President to become President later. Contact a board member if interested. Photos accompanying this article are borrowed from Flickr. The Photo Club is open to all OHCC residents. No special photographic skill is needed, just an interest in photography. Our dues are $8 per year. Photography
