The Doo Wop and Disco Club is celebrating getting back to what we do — dance parties! Unlike other clubs that share an interest in something like birds, wine, or aerobics we have one mission: Dancing to music of the 50s to 80s. Our June DJ "Stayin' Alive" party on the Lanai and pool side was fabulous! Our first party in 16 months was full of smiles. "We are back!" was heard throughout the evening. If you are not already a member and would like to learn how to get tickets for these parties, print the membership form on our website* and drop it by the Clubhouse with a check for membership. (Membership is just $10 a year.) Our parties are usually under $30 each, are popular, and usually sell out. Both men and women are taking these fun classes at all levels. We dance to pop, Latin, oldies, and country, All the Line Dancing Classes are in Abravanel Hall. • Level 1: Thursdays, 2:30 pm, Beginners class • Level 2: Mondays, 12:30 pm, Improvers class • Level 3: Tuesdays, 10:30 am, Intermediates class The Beginner class is for new members who have not line danced before, have some knowledge or would like to stay at this level to refresh their dancing. The Improver class is for members who were in the previous Beginner's class and feel they would like to move up, plus any previous Intermediate dancers who are comfortable staying at this level. The Intermediate class is for members who were quite satisfied with the Advanced level, plus any previous Intermediate dancers who feel they want a little more of a challenge. If you choose you can come to more than one class in order to feel what would be a good fit for you at this time. Shoes should be supportive, preferably slide on the floor and without a big tread. Check out "dance socks" on the internet — half socks that fit over sneakers to help prevent your shoes from gripping the floor. Payment for class is $5 for an hour class. There will be a cash box with a slotted lid for your $5. Please come with exact change as you will not be able to make change from the cashbox. There will be an attendance sheet for you to sign after you have paid. Want to try out line dancing? You can attend two classes for $5 each without joining the club. Like it? Become a member for $10 for the rest of the year.
