20 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2021 | September brings us to being two-thirds of the way through 2021. Wow! With all the summer programs, this comes as a reminder to dress appropriately when attending all activities and walking through our beautiful Clubhouse. Shoes and shirts are required. We continue to see pets being walked throughout the Clubhouse areas. Pets are permitted along Leisure Village Way but not on the Clubhouse grounds or in the Clubhouse. An exception is made for Service Animals. Service Animals are trained to aid a person with a disability or medical need. If an accommodation is needed, contact the HOA Office. Our annual Flea Market experience has changed. The Woodchucks, along with the Recreation Department, decided to make it a "driveway" experience. Many residents were concerned about the current health concerns regarding COVID. In the past, we packed Abravanel Hall with sellers and buyers. Before that, it was held in the parking lot. With attendance to all functions increasing, a joint decision was made to limit exposure. Sign ups will be taken at the front desk to include name, address, and items for sale. This list will be made available along with a map of the streets. Just drag that junk out of the garage and grab that cup of joe! See you on the streets Sat., Sept. 18, 9 am to 1 pm. Walgreens on Cannon Road is hosting a Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic on Sat., Sept. 25. Appointments are required. We have partnered with Walgreens for many years to provide this welcomed service. This will be a drive-thru in the Overflow Parking Lot. Paperwork will be emailed to those who call the Clubhouse Front Desk to make their appointment. Shred Day is being considered and hopefully we will get the go ahead to put the event on our master calendar. So many people have been able to clean out their closets and get that long awaited boxed paperwork ready for discard. Stay tuned! For any reservation questions, please contact the Event Coordinator's Office. For the daily reservation schedule, hard copies are available Saturdays for the next week. Movie schedules are put in the racks at the Clubhouse on Thursdays, and the Movie Hotline is updated on Tuesdays. The movies are reserved, and our queue is holding over 40 popular titles and as they become available, they are shipped to us. The number to call is (760) 758-1216 ext. 5 for a listing of the coming week's showings. Grandparents Day is Sun., Sept. 12. A laugh a day keeps the doctor away: Knock! Knock! Who's there? Grandma. Knock! Knock! Who's there? Grandma. Knock! Knock! Who's there? Aunt. Aunt who? Aunt you glad Grandma's gone? Friendly Faces and Fun Places by Carol Jones We are fortunate living in OHCC for many reasons. One underutilized and readily available perk is the twice weekly shuttle service included in our amenities as residents. Every TUESDAY and THURSDAY riders are picked up at their home and driven to various locations to shop, bank, buy groceries, get prescriptions, hair cut or go out to eat. Residents call OHCC Clubhouse (760) 758-8772 before 3 pm the day before the desired destination. Depending on the selected trip John arrives at your home to take you to Carlsbad COSTCO, Bressi Ranch Village, Grand Plaza Las Posas in San Marcos, Albertsons, CVS on South Melrose and many other destinations. You are brought back to your home, assisted with getting your purchases off the shuttle. The van is wheelchair accessible. Please consider trying this opportunity to get out of the house with no hassle of traffic, parking or paying for expensive gasoline. Stop by the Clubhouse for a schedule. For residents who can't drive or have a car the shuttle service is a lifeline to get out, see friendly faces and go fun places. Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director
