| OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2021 | 35 Bocce Club Even with the warm weather Bocce Club members are once again enjoying the company of friends on the courts at the weekly "play and potluck" on Wednesday afternoons. The schedule for reservations and open play are posted in the Clubhouse and at the bocce courts. The number of bocces made by members is setting record numbers every month as is the number of players. January had 137 bocces made by 117 players. There were increases every month with July stats off the charts. Members made 285 bocces by 142 players. January had rain, cold weather, COVID and the golf course was open. In July we had great weather and court conditions, play is permitted on all three courts and the golf course is closed. If you've never played bocce, this is the perfect time to start. I had hoped to take some photos of and write about the progress being made on the back nine but am still waiting for permission to enter the golf course. The only game in town was the Touring Amateurs on Mon., Aug.16 at St. Marks Executive Course. The tournament was completely booked with 120 participants and a long waiting list of potential players. The next Touring amateurs takes place at Twin Oaks on Mon., Sept. 20. Twin Oaks is a pretty challenging course, so those interested in competing there better hit the driving range of their choice to prepare. Golf Club
