6 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2021 | By Scott Lemieux, CPS Director CPS was recently contacted by a resident asking what is the best location to place emergency medical information for quick retrieval by first responders in the event she is unable to communicate on her own? We recommend residents provide the following emergency medical information in an envelope marked in bold letters "EMERGENCY MEDICAL INFORMATION" and attach it to the front of the refrigerator: • Full name • Birth date • Current medications • Allergies (list serious allergies first as well as allergies to materials first responders may use such as "latex") • Chronic medical conditions (i.e., Diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and epilepsy) • Emergency contact names and phone numbers • NEVER list your Social Security number Regardless of your age or the number of occupants in your home, this life saving information should be readily available for first responders to access in order to provide you the emergency care you need. On a different subject, there have been recent reports of aggressive pet encounters in the community. The procedures that should be followed after an encounter with an aggressive pet within OHCC are as follows: • Name of the resident or guest • Address • Type of pet • Contact information (phone numbers and/or email) • Where the encounter occurred • Time of the encounter • Injuries sustained The need to gather this information about the other party is important. Depending on the severity of any injuries incurred by the pet and/or pet owner or handler, you should first call 9-1-1. If the situation does not warrant an emergency call, then it's important to contact Community Patrol Services (CPS) in order to submit a report with as much detail about the encounter as possible. There are consequences both within and outside the gates of Ocean Hills. Local agencies need to be contacted to address the situation to prevent further aggressive encounters, injuries or even death to pets or their owners or handlers. If you are involved in an aggressive pet encounter within OHCC, please contact CPS for assistance. Community Patrol Services
