28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2021 | Knitters & Fiber Artists We are continuing the monthly Yarn Exchange on the second Monday of every month. A great time was had by all and lots of yarn went to new homes. The next one is on Sept 13 during our regular meeting time and place, 12:30 pm, North Clubhouse. All yarn plus some tools of the trade are from the personal stash of our friends. Everyone is welcome to contribute. All former, current, and future members are invited. Hopefully there is enough "stash" to last until the end of the year. Don't forget our monthly potlucks every last Monday! Sun Lakes Mudslingers We meet Tuesdays from 6 to 9 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. No prior experience needed. We have the use of two kilns and there is a potter's wheel for those who wish to learn or have prior experience. Our wonderful instructor Bear is there to teach, help or advise. He has years of experience and is a certified instructor. We do hand building and wheel throwing. The cost is $60 per month for materials and includes clay, glazes, tools, and firing. All you need to do is bring yourself. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. Info, Camille Meldrum, camille.meldrum@gmail.com. Sew What? Club Hello all! Things are sure different these days. So much more going on and activities are happening everywhere. Recently we have had the privilege of welcoming quite a few new gals to our fun group. Some of them have projects at home that have been lying dormant. They are seeing this as an opportunity to dig in and get some of those things completed. Others just want to learn a new hobby and are curious about all the possibilities available to them. We are always willing to share what we know and what we have learned. We are continually rotating and exchanging our supplies with each other. Most of us have way too much "stuff " and gladly gift our excess to those who are just starting out on their scrapbooking journey. We are happy to assist the newer people in any way we can. Our monthly birthday lunches continue to bring many of us together in a social atmosphere, especially those we don't see on a weekly basis. In addition to our weekly meetings and monthly luncheons, each year we put together a holiday dinner party for our group. It is all planned and organized by volunteers, and it is definitely the highlight of the year. It is as much fun for the organizers as it is for everyone else. The volunteers are in charge of planning the games, deciding on prizes, what the theme for the evening will be, and the decorations. In the past, we have been able to reserve the Sandwedge for our party, but that is extremely dubious this year. We may end up having it in one of the smaller clubhouses. No matter where we end up this year, an enjoyable time is guaranteed for all. We meet Mondays from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. The second Monday of each month is reserved for our luncheons. Please contact Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher (951) 902-9768 if you have any questions. There is no fee to join. Below are photos from our party from 2015. Scrapbooking We are meeting only the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 12:30 to 2:30 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. We will be working on items for the upcoming Craft Fair scheduled for Nov. 6. It's been a long time in coming so it will be good to see all the items that have been created during our down time. More details coming next month. Questions? Call Gail at (951) 797-3589 and leave a message and I'll get back to you. Playing a silly game Making use of the tree in the clubhouse for our party
