| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2021 | 29 It's great to be together again! We've enjoyed some great Sew and Shares. At right is one of Diane's quilts for our July meeting. Come join us! We're starting some fun projects. We welcome ideas and tips, or you can get help on a project. We meet the first and third (and the fifth if applicable) Monday of the month. Our meeting is from 1 to 3 pm. For info, call Jan Hamm (951) 212-6799 or Vivian Myrdahl (636) 222-0873. Sun Lakes Quilters Wine Club With great disappointment, the Steering Committee of the Sun Lakes Wine Club has made the decision to cancel our inaugural event scheduled for Oct. 24. This decision was precipitated by the inability of the restaurant to hire adequate staff or an Executive Chef to support such a large event. An email was sent to all members in August detailing the reasons as to why we felt it was necessary to cancel the event for now. We are hopeful that the staffing issues can be resolved during the last half of this year and that we are able to bring you an extraordinary event, hopefully in the first quarter of 2022, dependent upon Ballroom availability utilizing OUR staff, OUR kitchen and OUR Executive Chef. On a happier note, many members turned out to compete in the Ice Cube Toss for the Summer Games held at the South Clubhouse patio on Aug. 3. Tossing ice cubes into wine glasses was much harder than you may think. Winners included: Bill McDade, Gold; Susan Clawson, Gold; Bill Lawrence, Silver; Carol Ellis, Silver; Larry Ellis, Bronze; Blanca McDade, Bronze. Once again, we regret that we must cancel our first wine pairing scheduled for October. In the meantime, your membership dues will be rolled over to cover 2022. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Karen Clavelot, Wine Club President at (951) 330-0531. Int'l Culture Club Our Board is aware that some members were very disappointed with the July event. We were not aware that there would not be tablecloths for the tables or that the bar would close early. We have taken steps to remedy both of those situations. Likewise, we had hoped that dinner would be available to us for the August event, but due to staffing shortages, we were not able to make that happen. At this time due to the uncertainties of staffing levels, all that we can tell you is that the September event will be held on Sept. 9. Radio 60 will provide the music for dancing, and the bar will be open to purchase drinks and appetizers. There is no charge for members to attend this event. Sign ups to attend the September event will take place at the North Clubhouse on Sept. 2 at 3 pm. If you have questions or would like more information about the International Culture Club, contact Evelyn Hawkins at (951) 845-7199. Martie Steggell at (951) 769-3217 or Donna Leone at (951) 797-0832.
