| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2021 | 15 Golf Advisory The Golf Advisory Committee is composed of nine members. One representative from each of the four Championship Course clubs (Women's Golf Club, Lady Niners, Men's Golf Club, Couples Club), three Executive Course clubs (Ladies Executive Golf Club, Executive Men's Club, and Saturday Morning Golf Group), and two at-large members. Each of the club representatives are chosen by their clubs and granted the authority to make decisions on behalf of their clubs. Any resident homeowner is eligible to serve as an at-large member by filling out the Volunteer Interest Form available on the Sun Lakes website or from Administration. You do not need to be a golfer to be appointed by the Master Board as an at-large member. Appointment to the GAC is for two years and there is an opening for the 2022-2023 term. In addition to our focus on golf course maintenance and playability, we are anticipating issues involving water restrictions, irrigation replacement, and turf reduction in the upcoming year. If you are interested in providing an Advisory role in these important issues the Master Board is facing, now is the time to take the opportunity and get involved. Bingo is up and running again with plenty of seating and space for everyone! The committee and callers are excited for all the players returning for the fun! The Bingo Committee's goal is to provide entertainment for our guests and to be able to donate to our local charities. Mark your calendars! Our game nights this month are Oct. 12, 19 and 26. At the present time, the restaurant and bar are closed on Tuesday evenings. Guests may bring snacks and beverages but absolutely no alcohol as this would jeopardize the Sun Lakes community liquor license. Bring all your friends and neighbors, everyone is welcome. We play 12 regular and three special games and guests can play all 15 games for as little as $7 for the whole evening. Many cash prizes and door prizes are won each week. Remember cash only - no checks or credit cards. Doors open at 4:30 pm, games start at 6 pm and games are over by 8:45 pm. Come and be part of the fun. Any questions? Call (951) 769-4579 (Toni) or (951) 797-3817 (Karen). Bingo Advisory Some of the results your Restaurant & Lounge committee have initiated include: We are encouraged that new Executive Chef Noe Lorenzana has been hired and are looking forward to seeing what he has to offer! We are revising our menu to include some old favorites and new items. We added a "drinking water station" in the Main Clubhouse lobby. It will offer refreshing water with slices of fruit to make it inviting to quench your thirst. Also, we will have white tablecloths nightly and during Sunday Brunch with new blue and yellow napkins (Sun Lakes colors). The color of the napkins will change with the seasons. We hope in the near future to have live greenery to make our restaurant more aesthetically appealing. An updated "Dress Code" has been recommended to the Master Board for consideration and approval. We are encouraged by the response of our residents to our successful Sunday Brunch. You're missing something if you haven't tried it! ~ Dianne Patrick, Chair Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Master Architectural This time of year Patio Covers/Gazebos appear on our meetings agenda from resident member applications. Information for you to review as you pull an application for this change to your residence is located in ARTICLE XI of the ARCHITECTURAL STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES 7.23. One of the important items you need to be aware of is the setback from property lines. This information is item (f ) that states, "Patio covers constructed with less than a 5-foot roof setback from the property line can be rebuilt to the original location. For homes that do not have a patio cover, a five- foot setback from the property line must be maintained." Typical topics people ask me include the following topics: • Replacing a garage door • Change an exterior light • Replacing an aging tree When you want to make a change to anything outside of your house you can read the SPECIFIC ARCHITECTURAL STANDARDS in your Sun Lakes telephone book starting on page 70. Then contact the Planning and Compliance Department in the Administration office to get your permit. In closing, yet important, the published purpose of the MAC as we meet and review applications for changes to your property is: "The Architectural Standards serve to provide guidelines to protect, preserve and maintain the aesthetics and the property values of the residents at Sun Lakes Country Club." ~ David Marshall Kealy, Chairman
